It's at a lower price point normally, since there are no extras whatsoever, other than an essay.

Since BSG was recently being discussed, has Caprica been released on Blu-ray yet? I think I've seen something like a French release but nothing else. Especially region B please. Of course I might order it from France or something.

It may not be as good as the 7.99 deal, but Best Buy does have a pretty killer deal on the Planet Earth collector's edition.![]() $44.99, which is 50% off the original cost ($89.99). The DVD version is available for $39.99, if you needed a gift for someone without a Blu-Ray player. edit: $89.99 was what the tag in the store said, but the site says $99.98 was the list price, so it's an even better deal.

Is this the mediocre Sigourney Weaver Discovery Channel version or the incredible David Attenborough BBC version? Edit: just did some research, it's the BBC version! Also, it includes all the extras/making of featurettes that were missing from the original BBC Blu-Ray release, as well as some additional content. - edit It's back. An Innocent Man (starring Tom Selleck) dropped to $4.49. Wouldn't be that noteworthy except Amazon is also giving $4 credit to their VOD service with it. If you were going to buy something on their VOD service, that basically makes it a 49 cent Blu-Ray. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ASIN=B004RA7XYK Call Me Charlie fucked around with this message at 21:14 on Dec 22, 2011 |

The Digital Bits on some upcoming Universal releases...quote:sources are telling us that the studio is tentatively expecting to release Steven Spielberg's Jaws on Blu-ray on 8/14/2012. We've also been told that at least some of the sequels may be released on Blu-ray on the same day, including Jaws 3D on Blu-ray 3D. And on the catalog film note, we're also hearing that Universal is working on plans to release a Blu-ray box set of the classic Universal Monsters films in time for Halloween 2012.

Lost Keaton - March 20th It's a set of Buster Keaton's 16 short films made for Educational Pictures between 1934-1937. Kino actually released this as DVD-only in 2010, but I'm guessing sales for the other Keaton releases have been strong enough.

I still cannot believe The Abyss is not out on blu ray. Might sound irrational but I'm actually starting to worry that something is wrong with the source material that is holding it back. The movie has never seen a correct anamorphic transfer, and every time they play it on an HD channel on tv they always show the pan and scan version. Just doesn't bode well.

Cameron confirmed that, apart from the 3D Titanic project, his other projects this year involved bringing The Abyss and True Lies to Blu-ray. That doesn't mean that both or any of those movies will be released during 2010, but at least work is going to begin on them this year. Quick question about the Alien Blu-Ray discs, are the original theatrical versions of each movie on them, and are they full redone with the 4k transfers? I don't mind the directors cuts, and the directors cuts SE etc versions they kept coming out with over the years, but I'd prefer to simply see the movies I saw in the theater as a kid without anything extra. Just super amazing HD quality transfers. If not, I guess I'll stick with my DVDs.

The Alien BDs use seamless branching and include both the Theatrical and Extended versions on each disc. Alien's transfer, at least, according to blu-ray.com was "To start with, I never dreamed that Alien could look as good as it does here, courtesy of an all-new 4K master and 1080p/AVC encode." Not sure about the technical specifics of the rest, other than Aliens had some slight DNR (it's a bit of a weird case, as it still looks amazing for whatever reason). They are all unquestionably superior to their DVD counterparts. Seriously, watch Aliens on DVD again, it's a complete mess.
