The ongoing Hybe Min Hee jin thing is still interesting because apparently a mother of one of the NewJeans members gave an interview confirming that they were in contact with the company and concerned about ILLIT's debut. It all seems so dumb and petty now. Who cares if they weren't the first girl group? They're easily the biggest. One of the biggest groups world wide after a year even. All trainees face doubt and uncertainty about debuting, that's the entire industry. There are known members of the trainee process that were with the NJ girls for a long time that didn't make it and moved on to other opportunities or left the industry. And the CEO of a mega corp like HYBE shouldn't be involved with individual members, or at least the parents shouldn't expect that of him. Him ignoring them in an elevator sounds dickish but Korean culture, especially in a business setting, is full of that kind of thing. Especially between an older man and such young girls. TripleS Assemble 24 is def my second fav release of the year behind Fe3o4. The whole album is great, with Midnight Flower and Dimension as particular standouts. Very hyped for the Aespa and Artms full lengths too. Good month.

I think they said it was a preventative thing? I also saw that an NBA player was back playing after 2 weeks of the same, so maybe it's not as serious as it sounds. The MVs for this album were probably filmed before her surgery and she had time between that and when the promotions will start for recovery.

Yeah I haven't been following this super closely but my impression is the Korean public is still basically on MHJ's side, so I think there's some context we're not getting here. When you consider the difference in resources between Hybe and MHJ, I'm a bit averse to believing all the slander up front. For all the MHJ shaman stuff there's some deep claims on the other side about Hybe's high ups being deep in a pretty insane cult too.

It's pretty rampant in SK. JYP (the man) had a semi-scandal about being buddy buddy with a con artist televangelist type too IIRC. He also has his own online church where he does like livestreamed life-coaching sermons on instagram?I get recommended the posts sometimes and they're always good for a laugh. it's almost quaint compared to all the drama going on constantly.
