Is there any depth to the game? The demo seemed like it was nothing but walk up to an enemy and mash a button and go to the next enemy. That plus the endless dialogue made me turn it off.

One bit of fun trivia: The director of Showtime is the former director of the Goemon series, stepping back into the director's chair for the first time in a good quarter-century.

Each of the outfits is going to have a different method of control, the trailers have shown off a bunch of them

I'm not sure I like that Nintendo hides these things until people can literally see the credit, but I do also love Nintendo getting poo poo like this, a small Dragon Quest team making the Super Mario RPG remake, or that they hunted down and found the Another Code devs hiding in Arc-Sys and got them to do a full remake.

You'll likely over-cook and under-decorate the cakes without meeting the time limit if you just button mash randomly, but you might not have made it to the second level I guess. Like if you thought the first level was all there was to the game and stopped there.

IMO the Peach game shouldn't even start to get fun until 15 hours in, at a minimum. You should be forced to acquire blueprints for each outfit and then grind for resources to craft the outfits. Also the outfits should have stamina bars.

So aside from being on the short and simple side is the Peach game at least fun (and is the cake minigame the most annoying part about it)?

The demo was a blast and stuffed to the gills with charm and polish I’d gladly pay full price for 20+ hours of that, but if it’s as short as the reviews are saying, I’ll probably hold off for a sale or used copy

The Maroon Hawk posted:The demo was a blast and stuffed to the gills with charm and polish To be fair, that's perfectly fine. Back before I had a paying job, I often had to get anything interesting on sale or used, and I'm glad that today I have a choice. Doesn't mean I don't like Peach game or anything, in fact, it's on my wishlist right now. Also doesn't mean I have to absolutely buy everything I like all at once, like some deranged billionaire video gamer. Anyway, back in the day it was completely common for the Man to demand you pay the equivalent of 60 bucks for something that only lasted a couple hours. For example, Axelay for the SNES was a game you could finish easily in under two hours if you knew what you were doing. And I payed approx. 5 EUR (10 DM) for it, used. Instead of paying the original opening price of 100 DM (~50 EUR, with inflation accounted for that's probably 150 bucks at least in modern money)
