In other circumstances I could think she was being tongue-in-cheek self-depricating, and maybe she still is, but she's also self-depricating herself right into nazi defense. The nazis were people and that means they didn't behave the same in all circumstances and that means a nazi could be a loving dad to his aryan bundles of joy and also legitimately love the genocide stuff and want to kill kids that didn't fit into his worldview. Being loving to family members doesn't make you 'not an rear end in a top hat' in general or even make you a good person. If you are seriously trying to defend the institution of nazism based on the fact that it wasn't ALL babymurder twin experimentation, you're deluded, especially as a minority the nazi party hated.

It's definitely one of the saddest things about 4chan, the way trans girls in particular have been inculcated with the attention they get from people there that fetishize "traps", which leads them to think they're truly accepted and welcomed there, and that being treated that way (down to the use of the word "trap", with all its meanings they don't think too deeply about 'because that's just what they're called, man') is healthy or good for them. The tacit understanding that they exist to arouse and titillate fetishists that only see them as sex objects often doesn't quite sink in, even if some measure of 'I have to post and act a certain way if I want to keep getting "positive" attention' might. Lord knows that not many trans people need to be explained to how being able to engage in anonymity on the internet can be a godsend, and that was 4chan's primary appeal for a long time, so it's easy to see how trans people could see it as a place of refuge, particularly since it has a /lgbt/ board, without their realizing that the /lgbt/ board was initially created as a containment board, so that the population at large could tell the "fags" to gently caress off back to it any time anyone brings up anything lgbt-related (outside the "trap" porn, of course). Given that one can start a thread at any time on any subject, it's easy to try and isolate yourself in topics you want to discuss, and not take part in any others, but with the ease one finds in lurking in or posting in any other topic, as well, soaking up other *chan culture is worryingly easy to do, at times, and can lead to ugly places. I'd first set foot in 4chan in 2004, and I spent a long time there, observing the "natives" with each successive "generation" (year) as much as anything else, until I just abruptly stopped being able to put up with the poo poo, even if I'd occasionally find a nugget of gold or two on various boards (/pol/ not being one of them) a few months back. As bad as /pol/ in particular is, I worry about the effects of chan culture in general on vulnerable groups, but there's no easy way to solve that issue, either.

I used to play Quakelive with a homeless, transgender neonazi. Weird character and yet not at all the worst person I've met on the internet even in the last couple years, but the cognitive dissonance left me reeling so I dunno what was going on in their noggin.

It's really fascinating to see all the infighting in the alt-right and other white-supremacist movements as people disagree on exactly what is permissible, and think they're safe even though they married a Jewish woman and have Jewish children or are openly gay or disabled or trans or whatever. I think a lot of the times white-supremacists deviate so far from the 'white ideal' but fight so hard for it because of, idk, probably insecurity or self-loathing, except they don't want to actually work through their own poo poo and process their emotions healthily they just want to blame a conspiracy.
