Best MASH is Potter/BJ/Winchester MASH. Also, I like how even when it was preachy, it was sincere.

ContraBoss posted:God drat MASH is loving excellent. I was livid when they took that off Netflix before I discovered Frasier. Still makes me salty now that I've gone through Frasier so many times. MASH gets waaaay better once Col. Sherman Tecumseh Potter (he was one quarter Cherokee mind you) and Major Charles Emerson Winchester III were both on the show. Made dealing with those regular Army clowns much more bearable. I'm watching Frasier now. It's ok, I guess.

Frasier I think has too much cringe in it sometimes. Which is weird because I enjoy far cringier things in other settings.

When I was a kid there was this thing at one of those novelty gadget stores that was kinda like a viewmaster but would show you looping video (no sound) like a miniature projector and you put little cartridges in it. One of them was titled 'Golden Girls' and it was like a 30 second clip of something that looked like a knock off of the She Ra cartoon. So like a few days later we were all watching TV and mom was flipping through the TV guide and said 'hey golden girls is on...' and I went 'AWESOME LETS WATCH THAT' and was super confused and disappointed because it was old ladies telling jokes I didn't understand instead of a cartoon.

MASH was great with Hawkeye. McIntyre, Frank Burns, and Colonel Blake. When Honeycut and Winchester showed up and they still tried to make Hot Lips look attractive is when things went south.

Can't watch it any more because of laugh track, but it was my favorite. Especially any episode with Col. Flagg and: "Hey wait a minute, was this guy about five foot nothing, anywhere between 50 and 200 years old and looks like he fell off a charm bracelet?" "Yes" "Well that's Whiplash Wang!"

I don't know much about the show but the movie is one of my favorites. Sutherland's portrayal of Hawkeye seems quintessentially cool to me. Trapper John is great as well. My favorite part is when they're reminiscing about how Trapper got his nickname. He gets caught banging a girl on a train, when someone opens the door on them she yells "He trapped me!" Classic.

The laugh track was only in the US airings as far as I know. The showrunners fought hard against it but CBS insisted that people wouldn't understand it was a comedy without a laugh track.

Ferret face's rampage through the camp with the tank culminating in Potter mercy killing his jeep remains the highlight. That or Patrick Swayze playing a GI with leukemia. Lol.

The subplot about Hawkeye and the chicken in the final episode was really good. Especially for an episode of TV made in the 80s.

I love the movie more than i do the show. I love the little PA announcements over the course of the movie, like moving Yom Kippur from Friday night to Sunday, ad the end where the announcement breaks the fourth wall entirely.

Ostensibly set during the Korean war, mash is actually about Vietnam; it was just too touchy a subject considering the time frame.
