I didn't mind scarlets first look but that last look was just a goddamned mess and I'm confused as hell to what anyone would like about it e: her witch please was good but all I could look at was the completely unblended fake nose it kind of ruined it

Late rear end night at work so just watching now, but I feel the need to say in the past episode and twenty minutes of this one, I'm at peace with not liking Yvie Oddly much. She's gotten such a good reception that my lackluster one had me wondering if I was missing something, but eh I don't think I am. I like her looks, though they're rough around the edges (which I miss on the show tbh. seems like you need to show up with a shitton of money to get anywhere these days), but she just rubs me the wrong way idk. She just seems like a dick lmao, but not in an entertaining 'bitch you love to hate', or 'bitch who is so charming it doesn't matter' way. Meanwhile Silky has gotten dramatically less annoying and I'm really coming around on her, esp since she's buddied up with all but one of my fave queens on the season. That said, I'm still interested to see what Yvie brings when I get to the runway.

I know queens are younger and poorer and less vetted, I just can't help myself wanting (Season 2) Raja to take on almost every awesome idea Yvie has that wound up with lackluster execution. Sexy Voodoo doll? Holy poo poo! Excellent idea! That could have been chic as gently caress! But it just wasn't there. As for rubbing you the wrong way, I get it. In particular that stood out at the beginning of the episode, where she essentially picked a fight with (Season 11) Raja for no reason. Thing is- I think she's completely right. Every time a queen survives a lip sync it's this "ooh I really have to bring it NOW!" and Yvie is completely correct- where the hell was it yesterday? Bring it every goddamned day or you're going home! THAT SAID, she kind of lacks the compassion to know not to say things like that when people are feeling vulnerable. It makes for good TV, which is more interesting than Rupaul's Best Friend Race though! In any case, Silky..... I'm not crazy about Silky still. Coming right off of Eureka onto Latrice onto Silky- do big girls just always rely on bodysuits and evening gowns? Gimme something interesting ladies!

I don't know how Nina and Scarlett weren't in the top. Nina was my winner this episode. Her MILF look was hands down the best one, felt like it belonged on Dragula. Everything she served this episode had thought in every detail, was campy, creative, and fit the theme. Honorable mention to Shuga's witch look, which should have kept her safe, but she doesn't seem to have a storyline. Akeria's talking heads are fantastic. Tom said this on It Bears Repeating and I'm in agreement: there are too many queens and it'll feel like the season really gets going when we get rid of a few more. Especially when Rajah goes home. Her, Plastique, Silky, and probably Shuga sadly, are not bringing it at the level of the other queens so far for me.

Big queens are loving awesome (hi Latrice and Ginge) but the casting for big personalities large and in charge (two--TWO--seasons of Eureka) is doing the look a huge disservice. We're obviously all here for tea and shade, but not...this.

I don't like scarlet. She's like the kid in class who would get pissed off because he only got honor roll instead of high honor roll one semester. And none of her looks have impressed enough to warrant that attitude. She doesn't cinch even though she doesn't pad that much either and she needs to learn to contour that fuckin jaw. I love shugas personality to death but her looks so far have been too costumey Silky bad touch should have been in the bottom. Don't get yall hating on plastique, she knocked it out of the park I appreciate yvies total honestly having dealt way too much with Wisconsin Nice people who will act like your best friend whole burying all the poo poo they hate about you in 15 layers of passive aggression.

I don't wear makeup so I usually refrain from commenting on the queens' (unless I think it's really good) but I hate the way Scarlet paints SO MUCH. I thought Plastique did really well, but yeah, pretty and no personality. I just want to see more from her, all she does is show up on the runway. Nina's witch look was my favorite. It was just a really campy, funny take. I really liked Yvie's, too. That WIG.

Scarlett should have been closer to the bottom - her looks were cheap and dumb. The creature from the black lagoon?? That was just a goddamn spandex dress. It sucked. The Spirit of Halloween cowboy / pirate was trash and her witch outfit was bought at the same store. Gonna miss Ariel - but ugh, that mermaid was the dagger to the heart. It did not fit the theme at all - should have done like, a ghoulish face and blood coming out the gills. Something. I thought her needles thing was awesome and loved the layered dress. Canada pride for Brooke Lynn tho - loving nailed it. Nina was a very close second - her witch was the best. Next weeks show looks like another dud tho - not looking forward to this olympics song and dance.

Monster Ball episode could've used Carson, his bon mots are more bon. Scarlet's creature from the black lagoon was giving me Atlantis gimp. I too am loving Drag Race Thailand. Kana Warrior may not be the greatest drag queen of all time but definitely one of the cooler people I've ever seen on TV.

Nina's Little Shop of Horrors reference  Jesus, I love Vanjie's voiceovers. Ra'Jah and Silky are bringing boring as gently caress looks in comparison to basically every other queen on the runway. Shuga seems to veer wildly between nailing it and really not nailing it. When she gets it it's awesome but when she doesn't it's real obvious and there's not really much in between. Branjie forever

I blame beauty standards, now that women have adopted contouring and other techniques from drag queens, fishy queens are basically pressured to look even more polished and beautiful because they have to look as good as if not better than actual women. Elvira reminded us all of Manos, and if you haven't seen it, get drunk and watch it. This episode can also be described by the wall of gifs here which is the spoooookiest thing of all. For a monster ball though, I really was hoping they'd go more dragula with it, especially Yvie. Plastique, surprisingly, gave me what I wanted most with her spooky Countess vibe.

One thing I like about this season is that outside of Brooke Lynn Hytes everyone has some flaw in their game. Some of that may be editing and I fully expect some queens to come through ala S8 Naomi soon, but it's going to be vital to stay out of the bottom as they move forward because we're in a situation where anyone could go home if they LSFYL twice.

Realtime thoughts: Really excited for this one, given the theme and the fact that it's a ball. I wish Yvie wasn't so frequently a bit jerky because I really like her looks most of the time. What in the hell is up with Ru's dress? It reads like what you'd get if you piled up all the street sweepings the day after mardi gras. Loving Vanjie's angel look, I think it's my favorite look of hers this season. Brook's mummy look was way too close to Sharon's far-more-imaginative plastic surgery look. A lot of these slutty halloween costume looks are pretty dull, actually. I like Scarlet's witch look a lot, but I wish that nose was better. I like the idea behind Nina's witch a lot better than the execution. Oh man Shuga's witch is fuckin' horrifying and I love it. Vanjie's APOPOLOPTIC DEAD HOE was hilarious. Scarlet's creature outfit was pretty cool. Nina's monster outfit wasn't great but that makeup was fantastically offputting. Man I am not sure why Shuga is in the bottom, it should be Ariel vs. Silky. Ariel falling down was the only interesting thing in that lip sync; otherwise it was two boring performances to a boring song. Glad Shuga stayed though.
