Even with the scarcity of regionals in eggs I've ended up with like four Kangaskhan and three Mr. Mime, along with a few more leek ducks for the collection and a bunch of Tauros to grind into useless loving candy. But that's been nothing compared to the actually-hard-to-find regionals I've obtained from the ad-hoc exchange system around here. I'm down to just needing Tropius and Volbeat because goons are awesome.

Okay so I went NUT HUNTING to great success (TWO NUTS!!) and have my bit to report.

1) Nutsy definitely has his own animations. He's not doing Ditto moves just with a nut for a head. He looks around and moves in a rather un-Ditto-like way and not the jerky movements of a Kecleon.
2) His "tail" really does look like a Kecleon stripe. You can get a better peek at it using AR mode and circling round. If anyone says they can see wires or plugs coming out of it, they are either making it up OR are using a device with a bigger screen or higher resolution than mine. Given I am playing on a Galaxy S4 that's not outside the realm of possibility. His body is 100% no doubt Ditto's lower body coloured silver.
3) He does indeed get powered up by cloudy weather like a normal type (ie like Ditto and Kecleon).
4) His catch rate is very Ditto-y. The two I found had yellowy-green catch circles when using an Ultra Ball + razz berry.
5) The two I caught both turned into Ditto. They are pretty much indistinguishable from regular Ditto. Normal moves, normal height and weight, normal everything. One had really good stats but nothing I've seen indicates Nutsy Dittos tend to have higher IVs overall.
6) He is REAL SMALL. The first Nutsy I found I walked straight past. His colour scheme is very muted and he is TINY AS gently caress on the overworld map. When you go into the catch screen he's a fairly normal small Pokemon (like a Pidgey or something) but on the map he's very, very missable, especially when the night colour scheme is active.

In conclusion: idklol

I don't think he is a glitch per se. I don't think he was necessarily intended to show up, but I think he was deliberately created, most likely as a placeholder or stand-in for something else (like an invisible Pokemon mechanic as others have suggested). I think it would be very strange for a new Pokemon to be created almost entirely out of assets belonging to two already existing Pokemon, even turning into one of the two when caught and using their stats while in "combat". If Nutsy were its own Pokemon, you'd think it would get at the very least its own cry and type (most likely Steel and/or Electric; I'd angle towards Steel as I'm not 100% on the tail being a cable) even if they didn't program in an explicit "Whoa what's this!" reaction from your Captain/the Professor. In conclusion: I don't think he's a glitch in the strictest sense, but I don't think (at this point) that he's an official Pokemon. I'll be stoked if he does turn out to be real but for now I'm going to assume he's in the Missingno. pile of "Official Unofficial Pokemon".

Considering the amount of glitches and poo poo this game has experienced, I chalk nuthead up to a random glitch as I don't think Niantic is organized enough to do something as unique as unveiling a new gen8 pokemon. I bet it was an accident and they're just rolling with the mystery of it.

I'd call nutto a glitch if it, you know... looked like a glitch. Missingno is a garbled mess, and we've seen garbled messes early on in this game when we had research tasks spawn some messed up things.

It's clearly marketing. And I say this as a dude who's been overly critical of all the bugs this game has and continues to have.

I�m still grinding for a Kanga with no luck, I�ve probably gotten 3-4 of the other regionals at this point (all of which I already had). There�s still lots of time, though frustratingly gifts are starting to become the bottleneck

Theyve proven their ability to spawn pokemon during a set time period through stuff like unowns and stuff. I think its completely reasonable to assume this is a marketing ploy because we are still talking about it days later. The fact that Niantic is also quiet on the matter says a lot. PR 101 is go bad early so you can control the narrative. We are controlling the narrative through speculation.

Pokemon has always had glitches. I distinctly remember farming for Missingo in Red. The thing with glitches is replication. The "glitch" was replicated at the same instance the day after for the other continents CD. Plenty of time to address said glitch in an official stance. "Sorry, we were trying a new way to despawn CD pokes!" or something leads back to PR 101, going bad early. Which leads to the same conclusion. Q

I downloaded this game 2 years ago and promptly forgot about it. Until this weekend a friend was talking about it and I started playing.
This is kinda fun. I'm level 9 at the moment and I don't really know what I'm doing. I added my name to the Google thing in the OP, so if you could add me and send me sweet gifts, that'd be cool. I live in Belgium by the way. Don't know if there are any special Pokemons here though.

my favorite glitch is the one i just got, where you lose gps signal for a split second during the mewtwo catch screen and get booted out

and re-entering the gym or relogging does nothing

- not a glitch
- added for the Let's Go marketing campaign
- the new Pokemon that will be transferable from Let's Go to Go
- part of Gen 7
- probably Pokedex #808
- possibly the steel-type evolved form of Ditto scrapped in the Gold/Silver beta
- but more likely a brand new steel-type that just has solder that looks like Ditto
