From what I gather the only thing to do to prevent DDOS attacks is to throw loads of money at preventative measures that you won't need 99% of the time. They've already got your money, it's not high on their priorities compared to online shopping portals, sadly. gently caress Lizard Squad.

It's entirely possible that Lizard Squad knew that both would be having problems tonight and pre-emptively took credit for it without actually doing anything.

At least, that's what I'm hoping. :sigh:

That is exactly what they always did though. I mean even if they target big companies, it isn't the CEOs or whoever who are getting their days ruined. It's the IT teams, barring the rare exception.

This seems to be a YMMV situation, might be something like it only works for US accounts. Before the store went completely down I tried this and the stuff is free and claims to be purchasable, but I got an error on checkout. I tried downloading each version both through the webstore and the console and nothing worked. Never mind I re-read and found my mistake. You need the PS3 and Vita versions in your basket.

The only way I could download it direct to my Vita was by going to the store's download list and getting it there, but even then I got that dumb error at the title screen. With the PSN down I can't even finish the workaround method.

The error I got wasn't about the cart being empty, though. Anyway, will have to wait for Lizard Squad to simmer down before trying anything else.

EDIT I think I got it working, and it was a reading comprehension issue on my part.

That flash sale is probably just to catch some impulse buys from people getting a new console for Xmas. And then those new owners all logged on and killed PSN. Jerks :argh:

I'd say the Lara Croft game + Season Pass is worth it at the sale price.

Store looks to be back up, at least for the webstore. Some authorization page in the background kept failing to load and went in an infinite loop, which was probably the target of the DDoS.

Used some gift cards I got for Xmas to fill up my PSN wallet and picked up Evil Within for $30. I know it's flawed, but playing Alien Isolation has got me in the mood for some horror.

I also signed up for Music Unlimited premium. I had it for a year back when they made subs super-cheap with PS+. I went with the $10 plan and figure I can cancel if I never use it. My dumb question is this: Is there a quick menu/controls or anything? Like, if I'm in the main screen on PS4 or in a game, is there a way I can quickly skip a song, set it to shuffle, etc without switching over to the MU app itself? Also, if I stream gameplay with MU playing in the background will it be audible?

I am sure a hacker knows all about rewarding and accomplished behavior. I mean, raping a chick with some mickeys is the same is getting laid right? Same result amirite guys? Nothing like work and not having to do it and get that sweet sweet payoff. :smug:
I waited through halloween for a discount on outlast DLC and that didn't happen, but I think outright owning it might be worth the few extra bucks, since I couldn't buy it even if I wanted on my primary account. So what I need to know is, if I buy the bundle, what are the chances it fucks with my current DRM or need or redownload or my outright ownership? I thought I remember Uvibee mentioning after redeeming BL1 from PS+, then buying a bundle later on, it sort of hosed his ownership. Is this sort of this possible on the PS4? (I got outlast for free from psn+)

I kind of sort of want Trine 1 EE, just because I really like it, but I already purchased it on PS3, so I think I need to wait on PSN+ freebie, which I think trine 1, 2, and 2 CS have been, or a killer discount like 1 and 2 get on ps3 all the time ($2-$5 in the past) Is there any reason to splurge and maybe buy it now? I tried to read what was added but it was for the steam version and I don't think the PS blog covered it well enough, unless the port is as lackluster as online mp addition.

Notes, some that have already been mentioned here:

The cross-buy offer for the PS4/PS3 pre-order of the remastered version of Resident Evil is only available as a pre-order bonus.

A broken version of Resogun Vita version was in the store for a few hours Tuesday before a fixed version was put up. If you got the broken version and seem to be locked out of claiming the fixed versions, go to the webstore, add BOTH PS3 and Vita versions to the cart, and checkout. This should overwrite the broken version with the fixed version in the download list. Delete the broken version and download the new Vita version.

Many of the new bundles are not good deals, at least for this week. I pointed out which ones are cheaper to buy separately in the New Releases section.

The blog post says that Guilty Gear Xrd Sign: Character Colors: PlayStation Plus Set would come out this week, but as of now, it has not, at least not in the webstore.

Trials for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn are finally out in the NA region. Restrictions are that you can't claim it if you already bought the download version, level cap is at 20, and you have 14 days to play it.

Don't buy the Vita bundle Luxury Fun Triple Scoop. One of the games, Coconut Dodge Revitalised is only the demo version and doesn't include the unlock key.

Minecraft: Birthday Skin Pack is available free for everyone and will be up until probably January 13, around the same day the EU version will go away.

The Swapper is on sale, but it is one of the announced PS+ games for January. Don't get it if you want to claim it for free through PS+ in a few weeks.

Yet again, Canadians, some of the sale prices in the Holiday Sale are higher for you all. :canada:

Update for The Pinball Arcade:
Season 2 Bundle and table packs, Season 2 Ball Pack, and Season 4 Passes are now available for the PS4 version.
Season 4 Passes are available for the PS3 version. Vita version was not released, but there are still cross-buy offers between all PS3 and Vita versions.

Driveclub PS+ Edition was not released this week. New add-ons did come out for the game (first 5), including another free car for everyone.

Update on games scheduled to be pulled:
Marvel vs. Capcom Origins is still available.
All of these Rock Band songs are gone.
Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse is gone.
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is still up.

What are the PS+ games for January? I know it's the aforementioned Swapper and Infamous First Light but what else?

I'm in Spain and I received a code for the first episode of Family Guy instead of the AHS one.

On the moon... they don't make Neo Kobe Pizza.

Wow, this is a weird promotion. Sony Japan is holding a lottery for free PSN cards and the only way to enter is to earn trophies in select free to play games. When are we gonna get something like that, America and Europe?
