I really loving love how much slicker armies have gotten.
Rally? They all gather at rallying points pretty quickly. Rally all / disband all is nice. And the Men-at-arms are just naturally a part of your soldiers, as opposed to separate stacks which might be stationed in a poor location.
Annoying AI is trying to run around you? There's a dedicated 'leave enough to siege' button that lets you station enough of your stack to keep sieging, while the main part of the force goes on the hunt.

e: There's also a lock in, where if an army has started marching -enough- to a different region, they can't just abrubtly cancel and stop that movement.
While that is slightly annoying for users, it does wonders for crushing the annoying habit AIs had of cancelling their movement the loving second they saw that your armies would clash.

It makes it a lot less annoying to intercept flighty forces.

right click your dude, and select the arrange marriage / find spouse option, which'll pop up the menu for it.

Did that, selected a spouse, can't find the button to "Send Proposal". "Arrange Marriage", yes, but not the one that lets me marry her.

Have work so can't actually play, but I've got an observer game that's up to 1328AD (from 1066). The late game speed drop is basically...non-existent so far. It's gone from about 1 second to 2.1 seconds per month which is barely noticeable and also still way faster than speed 4. Massive improvements there.

The Seljuks appear to be..massively overpowered.

I noticed this, as well. I had to get back to work before I could figure out if there was a way to consistently get them to stay open, but I got a li'l frustrated with them earlier. Possibly user error, though.

There's three options. Default is hover for a few seconds and the tooltip will change color and "lock" so you can scroll to it. In the settings you can change it to locking with the middle mouse button, or just locking by default.

There's an option in settings to change how tooltips stay, change Tooltip Mode to Action Lock and then you can middle click to make them stay.

I loaded up and mucked about for about half an hour and I'm definitely going to need to play through the tutorials but my initial impression is that CK3 represents a big leap forward in terms of UI and performance for PDX games, similar to the big leap that was Vick 2 and CK2 over the games that came before them.

It's so impressive that we're on literally 20 years of making the same games in the same fundamental style and they keep getting better.

The friend of all children!

My goal in game is to found a matriarchal religious based society. Starting in the 800s I immediately began trying to oppose Christianity through the spread of my own paganism. This lead to unrest, and I kept getting a message about 'low control' in some holdings with the suggestion I send in my Marshal. I couldn't figure out how to do this, unless it just means granting a title to the marshal. Or do you raise an army and send it to your own holding? Seems unlikely.

In the end the unrest grew while I got bogged down in a variety of petty squabbles on my border, culminating in an army marching on my capital holding and laying siege (my first son died the moment he got into battle). I couldn't raise an army once I was occupied, so no way to fight back. I got captured and thrown in prison a few years, and my wife and some of my court died or were imprisoned as well. My only thought from that experience was I'd like a clearer idea of who and what is coming to wage war on me.

All in all a fun time. Does anyone know how to send your marshals to a location with low control?

Is there no option for mousewheel zoom sensitivity though? It feel glacial, since I usually turn it up in mapgames.

Thanks for this. Despite these kinds of small problems, I agree that the game is way more accessible than ck2. It's easier to find information, and everything is a lot more transparent. The ui is more intuitive too.

Now that I've rattled around in the tutorial for a bit, I figured I'd start a proper game.

And huh, I guess the achiements have gotten even stricter?
You -have- to be in ironman mode for achievements to be active.
Also any game rule/option that makes the game easier also disabled achievements.

Not that it matters too much, I assume mods will start rolling out in not too long, and ----
Oh there are already 20+ uploads on the workshop? Including the Bronze Age mod? Huh.
I guess that's a big benefit to opening your game to modders a while before release.
