I'm thinking of free experiencing my way into the German heavy line. Is there any particular reason I shouldn't unlock through to the Panzer IV H and head to the Tiger P? I figure that way I have jumping off routes to the E100, Maus, and Ferdinand open.

Yay, I bought a CDC on sale and pimped it out. Unfortunately, I didn't realize I still had that BatChat crew sitting around until I had already blown 100 gold on training up my commander, but oh well. At least I realized it before I trained up the remaining crew members. I figure an all camo crew is the way to go with the first skill? I bought a vert stab, rammer and coated optics on sale too. Too bad I can't drive it right now due to work, but I'm excited to try it out in a bit.

I played the tiger P as like my second t7 heavy before it got merged for no reason. It was quite decent back then. Unlike the Super Pershing the weak points aren't small enough and the rest of the armour isn't strong enough to really require aiming.

Lost my one and only game in the CDC so far. I got Siegfried Line, and honestly I'm not sure what the hell to do on that map as a medium in general now, let alone a CDC. I went out into the field from the south spawn, got spotted with my 0% camo crew and died. I still got a kill and did about 1k damage, which is pretty good considering I had no idea wtf. So, Siegfried Line... where the hell should I go in a tank with no armor?

Bort Bortles posted:Does the CDC have any turret/mentlet armor or is it like other French tanks where there is no armor to speak of anywhere? No armor anywhere. From what I'm seeing in Tank Inspector, at best you're going to have 70mm of spaced armor if someone shoots you right next to your gun. So, any tank it's going to face is going to pen pretty much anywhere. Outside of a situation where you might be able to use view mechanics, it seems like it's best defense is its gun depression and it's ability to pop up over a hill and take a relatively accurate shot quickly while presenting a small target. In pretty much every other situation it's a large, squishy tank.

Ok, the O-I is a serious contender against the KV-2 over the throne of King poo poo of Derp Mountain. The 150mm gun is slightly less colossally inaccurate, and the shell velocity is actually pretty high. It has less pen on the HE shell, but slightly more on the regular AP shell. Gold ammo has a higher pen value too, but it's HEAT so meh. The tank itself is not as horrendously cumbersome as one might expect and has neutral steering so it can pivot in place. Gun depression is also really good so you can bloop things over hills better. Actually, with the exception of the O-Ho's frontal arc, all the tanks have good to excellent gun depression. God help me, I think I'm probably gonna start my way through this line when the patch drops. EDIT: AlmightyPants posted:What tank does the Japanese heavies go off of? If not, wait for the Rudy to go on sale again. Please don't convert free xp to crew xp. Just buy an FCM. Look at the skills, the descriptions will tell you the radioman skill is 3% and the commander skill 2%. The wiki is worthless. Sorry.

Regarding the skills, I asked because I dont see any numbers on the skill Other skills question: Is "Clutch Braking" good in general, bad in general? Is it more useful on certain tanks? e.g. should i have it on the T110E5, 13 90, or both (as long as Smooth Ride is already complete, of course). On the 13 90 I think I would rather just keep camo, but camo is at 95% so swapping that for Clutch Braking now while the crew reset is discounted sounds appealing.

Clutch Braking is almost as good as Smooth Ride as far as driver skills go. It is more useful for heavies and TDs and I'd rather have camo on lights, but it's still really good.

I like clutch breaking a lot for almost any heavy tank that can pivot turn and of course TDs. I use it on the Pz1C too so it can take corners better but on a tier 3 pubstomper skills don't matter much I guess. For the 13 90 I personally opted for Smooth Ride because I wanted better straight line speed.

So I wasn't doing so great in the SU-152, because I like to charge in as a frontline and get blown up. It takes a while for me to stop doing this every time I get a new tank. I've tried being a sniper with the derp gun. It's loving hilarious. Top tier, bottom tier it doesn't matter. Shooting at squishy mediums or heavily armoured heavies? Who cares. Your opponent has spent five minutes carefully angling their hull for maximum protection? Punish them. Now sure, targets a few hundred meters out have a good chance of dodging your shell by sitting still, but that just makes the hits all the better. KV-2: TD edition. Latest match: Highlight was penetrating the T26E4 in the side for 1050 damage. This was a really good match to get that 5x bonus on, now 10k closer to the ISU! 1.5x crew exp for some mission as well. Question: Does anyone use the "top" gun on the SU-152? Researched them for ISU, but haven't tried them.

I'm already wishing for 6th Sense on the CDC and I've only played 4 games. It's pretty invaluable on light and medium tanks. My plan for most mediums (with 4 crew members) is the following: Camo Camo Camo Camo Then: 6th Sense / Camo Camo / Snap Shot Camo / Smooth Ride Camo / Sit Awareness Then: 6th Sense / BIA / Camo Camo / BIA / Snap Shot Camo / BIA / Smooth Ride Camo / BIA / Sit Awareness Not sure if it's sensible to do that much retraining or not.

If I'm remembering correctly, the top 122 mm has the best DPM in the game and will chew through anything Tier 7 or under. The drawback is that 175 mm of pen is a bit anemic when facing Tier 8 or 9 tanks with significant amounts of armour. It also requires you to be more passive and remain hidden to let your DPM work, whereas the 152 mm can let the SU-152 play more like an assault gun.

There's also a mod that gives you the full stat readout for a tank when you hover over it in the carousel - the mobility, DPM etc stats (that otherwise are "exclusive" to certain classes" in addition to stuff like gun depression and elevation. Another thing that really should just be in the game by default and that makes me hate all those idiots who say that all mods should be banned.
