You do realize that this is a "take the red pill/blue pill" situation, yeah?

Chances are spending a lot of future deep sky nights listening to the noise of the filter wheel slowly changing from LRGB to the first H-line filter in front of your 10k CCD camera, while trying to stay awake and watching the guiding graph, questioning why you bought the cheaper dew heater and cheaped out on the better guiding scope and why you thought the polar alignment was "good enough" for the season. And while you try to decide if you are either freezing to death first or falling asleep before you have to turn the telescope around to catch at least couple of minutes of sleep while mumbling "I'll master PixInsight one day", and sorting your dark frame library by year/wear of ccd-sensor and smell of the flowers in the morning.

Astrophotography is a very zen experience

e: off-axis guiding rules

thankfully the scope mount is self-aligning via GPS on my phone with a wifi dongle and there's almost certainly going to be too much wind to do anything longer than maybe 10 sec unless I'm doing a lot of isolation.

The guys with the $new.car worth of CCDs and dobsonians they haul in on boat trailers make it look like enough of a chore to wave me off that path for good. Would I drop the money on a bigger scope to see details in jupiter's cloud deck? Sure, but I ain't gonna go hogwild on poo poo that needs to be actively cooled to reduce noise and also heated to reduce condensation.

I use a fancy Nikon DSLR to take photos sometimes, but usually just my iPhone. I mean, I only really take photos of my cats... and try to do at least a kinda good job at it since I am going to miss this dear kitty very much when she is gone.

Here are some from my kitty's 17th birthday last year, right before she started radiation treatment for nasal cancer, taken with my Nikon and unedited in any way:

And some from my phone the other day. You can see how her fur on her face changed color:

What about painting op hmmm????

I just got back from two weeks of vacation celebrating my freedom country telling the fail Brits to gently caress off and I have caught up on the thread and race. I've decided to summarize my thoughts of the last 900 posts or so.

Big Valtt confirmed champagne drinker. It was not very poggers for Mando and Maximilian to be mean to their podium friend.

Lewis letting Boatass past because he had the better racecar was hilarious. Clearly Merc needs to sign Buttass to another two years, so we can watch more of that.

Are Danny had a nice and fun race. Austrian GP gets four stars out of five.

I like cell phones for the same reason that other guy did, the photos it takes are fine, plus I can post on this horrible forum and look at pornography. You could look at pornography you took on your camera I guess, but then you'd be involved in it so what's the point. I guess if you used your camera and took a video of lowtax having sex with another basketcase you could maybe make an argument for a DSLR camera but it's spurious at best.

My fiance's sister got an air fryer for her birthday but we did not use it. I will report back if/when I get to air fry something.

I have basically two months off, and I'm living in suburban Minneapolis. I believe I will fish in the morning, attempting to catch a smallmouth bass daily. I will clean my bass, then cook by searing it in my cast iron. I'm not sure what spices to use on fish, so I will start plain and with salt, but I plan to experiment based on recommendations from the thread.

video games vs anime - I like video games more personally. Many video games I have played have felt like anime. Have you heard of Disgaea?

Sim racing vs karting, I'm sure most of us would prefer to do some casual karting. I've not simmed, and I haven't been in a kart since my last minigolf venture, but I am looking at a place that does slightly bigger karts. It seems like it's indoors, you pay a $30 yearly license fee, and then you can do an 8 minute session for like $20. Does not feel poggers.

How to get into f1 - there was a very good effort post already. I was going to contribute that ChainBear on YouTube has helped me a lot in understanding nuance along with foundational concepts. Plus the sillyseason2021 song was fun. Watch DTS, pick one person you like, and go with it. I picked Seb this season, I am also 33 going on 34 and balding, and I like the Aston Martin livery. Baku welcomed me.

Uhh... Last thought maybe a conversation starter. Someone posted a 90s f1 car driven by Jos "father of the year" Verstappen, and it basically looked like a purple jetski. Can this thread post everyone's favorite 80s or 90s vaporwave style cars?
