Also unless you have a time machine, how do you supposed to experience the totality of black experience in America? Curating an exhibit doesn't equal being raised with the people who lived what it was about.

I love that every time an argument like this happens the final resting place is basically "well my situation isn't specifically yours so you can't possibly understand." Although this one has the lovely epilogue of also getting called racist.

It's this. I want to dismantle white supremacy. There are times, even days or weeks I'm so angry that I can't even begin to convey here on a forum. But I use it to make a positive change. Yeah sometimes I go off, call people crackers and uncle toms and poo poo but that poor impulse control and something I'm dealing with in therapy. And it helps. White supremacy deserves to be smashed. I'm cool with bashing active/violent fascists too. But you need to control your anger and only use violence when it's appropriate. You also need to stop claiming things that aren't true, because as I said before, posting fallacies only demeans and overshadows all the other atrocities that have been and are continuing to be done to us.

Those divides are unavoidable since black people are not a monolith. But at the same time if we look at it on a generational level a lot of that animosity's being eroded by pan-black movements across the country because, despite whatever you may think, most black immigrants realize they'll be shot dead by cops as readily as black people whose families have been here for centuries. The last part is false, especially among the children of African immigrants in corporate America, especially if they went to a PWI. But come on over for a beer sometime and we can chat it up in person.

So either shut up, accept no one ever but 1st hand accounts should speak about something, we can be done with this conversation and all conversations while we are at it, or you can stop being a disingenuous little poo poo and realize human beings, even us black immigrant ones, are capable of empathy and have imaginations. Dexo posted:Meh, I think this conversation is pretty interesting even if I don't necessarily agree with his whole view on things. The best arguments against slavery eugenics doing anything are a) the ridiculously awful amount of raping of slaves by white people that went on continuously the whole time, and b) the constant influx of new slaves from Africa being thrown into the mix. Any selective breeding program that did exist would be completely derailed by those things (and neither of those things paint white slavers in a more flattering light...) Also, "genetic fitness" is really a moving target. The slave populations were spread out over a huge area with different climates, different types of forced labor, different indigenous diseases, and so on. It's not like descendants of slaves fit one physical template, either; stupid white people aside African-Americans are diverse as all hell in height, build, appearance, and so on.
