He knows that and is just bad at making videos. quote:I did do some tests in the YouTube video below based on evaporation of each fuel (100LL, Jet A, Contaminated) and found that if the fuel isn't gone off your hands in ~30 seconds, you've got Jet A on your hands. Pun semi-intended. It gets worse in the source thread, though. The guy who made the video is employed in fuelling planes and I didn’t see any of the pilots in there saying “hey don’t do that—you’ll get lead poisoning”.

E: I have now read the post three posts above mine and there is no reason you should have any difficulty differentiating jet a and 100ll without having to come in contact with it unless you are blind and have no sense of smell. 100ll is blue and smells like minty sweet cancer, jet a has 'straw" color to it and smells like jet a, and if you are still having issues, get a small sample and spit in it and swirl it around. Water has a much more difficult time mixing with 100ll and will appear as bubbles at the bottom, in jet a it will disperse and make the sample cloudy. Why do you need to stick your hand in it to tell what it is????????? ???? EvenWorseOpinions fucked around with this message at 19:22 on Dec 26, 2019 |

For some reason those look like Japan -> NZ exports to me (NZ has a long history of importing used Japanese vehicles due to the combination of "not having local auto manufacturing in NZ" and "Japan being super harsh on used vehicle resale and registration")

That Dang Lizard posted:Mild OSHA: we had a fire drill this week (unannounced, so treated as a real fire). At the end of year company briefing today the chief fire warden gave a short presentation on how that went, and one of the problems which was discussed: a unnamed staff member figured out it was a drill and refused to leave the building when ordered by fire wardens. We had to be reminded that yes, fire drills are mandatory. One particularly memorable alarm happened 10 minutes before an assignment was due. As it wasn't a drill we expected it was real. I caught a student arguing with a Floor Warden that they really should run into the burning building to hand in their assignment, which would presumably then be burned to ashes. Little did they know that they were arguing with the person responsible for collecting their assignment. I sent them out. Not a bad drill overall. There was construction work in the building at the time. Another time the alarm went off just as I was leaving work. Almost all the floor wardens had left by this time but there were still students studying. When I met the fire brigade at the mimic panel we were very surprised to find that it had been replaced by a piece of plywood. As we discussed leaving one of the country's largest University faculties locked out for the foreseeable future due to lack of fire protection, someone reported that they had found the mimic panel had been shifted to the far end of the building. Might have been worthwhile to send that information up to the Building Warden.
