My beloved 2014 Moto X is dead. I plugged it in to my computer, it got hot and died, and now it just goes through a 15 second reset loop when plugged in. I assume this means that the charger is hosed. I'm guessing this is probably not in any way fixable but I figured I'd ask you guys what you think. I'd call the phone repair shops around me, but my backup phone apparently also died at some point in the past 9 months. Really not looking forward to the prospect of a new phone that is worse than this one in every way I care about.

I hope the new nexus has that moto x thing where I wave my hand in front of the screen and it tells you the time and stuff. That poo poo is neat

That poo poo is neat Since the Nexus 6, a Nexus made by Moto, doesn't have it, don't count on it. The Moto X has IR sensors to make it happen, it isn't just a software thing. I agree with you wholeheartedly, but it won't happen.

I think the rumor is that the Not Nexuses will have the "tap screen to wake" thing that LG did/does. It's not as good as Moto's IR sensors but it's better than picking your phone up off of a surface like some sort of caveman.

Question for S7 Users: Do you find yourself having to unmount and remount your SD card from time to time? Or did I just get a slightly defective microSD card?

I'm having an issue with the Play Movies app. This just started yesterday from what I can tell but whenever I click on a show to watch it just loads up a black screen and only plays audio. This is happening on both cell data and on my home WiFi. This is on a 6P and if it matters I'm not rooted or anything like that. This just seems like a background change from one day to the next.

Oh wait, did I read the other articles wrong? Only 0.1% of Note 7s? For some reason I read that as 0.1% of all Samsung phones. That's a pretty recall recall then....

That's a pretty huge issue for something that is supposed to sell 10 million units. I can't find total preorder or presale numbers, but 400,000 sales in South Korea as of a few days ago and a 0.1% exploding phone rate means 400 exploding phones there alone a week after launch. Not sure if you're really saying that's a small issue??

Yeah because companies never downplay there number of affected products leading up to a massive recall (that's unprecedented and never been done before with cell phones)

OK my phone has been resurrected. For anyone who ever runs into this kind of restart loop, try just letting it stay plugged in for a long rear end time. Eventually the battery will completely die from the endless restarting and then apparently it will charge and magically fix itself. I was afraid it was going to catch fire so I put it somewhere safe and just let it go.

Nobody's ever disputing the quality of their hardware. Explosive phablets aside.

The Samsung hate is because when you have a dodgy phone, it's bad when it breaks. When you have a Samsung, it just irritates you very slightly every day. If you're the type to take issue with Samsung's stuff, anyway. Anyway, the latter is much better at generating hate than the former. MikeJF fucked around with this message at 09:23 on Sep 2, 2016 |

The note4 had a lot of things that didn't gel with me but I've been stoked with every aspect of the note 7, I'm hoping it's a selective recall if it gets that far. A bunch of Australian telcos and retail stores have stopped selling the phone temporarily based on the few reported exploding models (one of which included a 3rd party cable + adapter in the aftermath pic), they all seem to be running with the unconfirmed articles instead of direct advice from samsung. Is anyone else having problems with Facebook Messenger since yesterdays update? I couldn't receive pics today so I reinstalled it and now can't even sign in, seems to be a few others with the same issue with the android app.

I'm probably going to keep using mine until the replacements are ready, because I like to live dangerously like that. I will however only charge it when I am nearby and not sleeping, because really I don't like to live quite that dangerously.

Am I being paranoid regarding my Note 7? I usually charge it while I sleep and I plug it in to my car for Android Auto when driving, and I'm genuinely concerned something might happen now. I haven't had any problems with it thus far, but now I'm just nervous as hell, and I unfortunately don't have a spare phone I can just use until a replacement can be done.
