I think DeSantis is too much of a one-note evil dickhead to win a national election or serve a full term if he did. Trump balanced out his rotten agenda with plenty of head scratching WTF moments like changing hurricane trajectories with a sharpie (or threatening to nuke them), staring at a solar eclipse, or suggesting bleach and sunshine enemas to cure Covid. He did real damage to this country, make no mistake about that, but he was too goddamn stupid and capricious to follow through with a lot of it. You wouldn’t get any of that with DeSantis - just a constant stream of grievances, culture wars and petty retribution. It might make a dwindling number of MAGA hogs moist, but it would turn off just about everyone else. And since he doesn’t have a single conciliatory cell in his body, it would only be a matter of time before he did something truly heinous to strike back at a real or perceived slight, and the violent protests would snowball from there.

DeSantis has a better chance of winning in a head to head vs. Biden or Gavin Newsom probably but luckily Trump still has his talons firmly in the brains of the GOP voter base and he will 100% still run from prison or third party.
