I was watching this on my own and kind of testing the waters. Once I got to Sky Full of Stars and Deathwalker I was completely sold and told my wife she needed to join me. We have now made it through Signs and Portents together and that ended with a nice WTF overarching plot hook. Can’t wait to see where THAT goes.

Oh we bought the complete series remastered on iTunes. I had previously gotten it through…other means, to not have commercials, but it was $50 for the whole thing in HD. Seemed worth it.

S1E15 Grail WTF???! Kosh eats brains! Lol Greys are real. Court case for abduction is a good joke. David Warner! Can anyone explain the Tron connection JMS has? Is it just Jurasik hooking him up with the other actors? Since I know Boxleitner comes in later. This guy worked on all five stations. And says if he leaves it’s the end of it “just like the others?” Did he leave the others? Oh good immediate answers lol. More Minbari lore, two castes and when they agree bad things happen like wars. Ok that ain’t actually Kosh. A Feeder pretending so it has leverage over dumb people? Lol Mollari’s look when Vir says he’s already done the search is one of Jurasik’s best acting moments so far, which is saying something. Kick their rear end David Warner! Ah man I would love to have heard Kosh’s reaction to that. Mind flayer! Great design. David Warner you got shot in the arm. Man up. Ah Deuce thought up the trick? I thought the Feeder did. Deuce looked too basic to think that up. Sinclair: “people are nervous because they don’t know what you look like.” Kosh: “good.” Nice. That jacket ought to have a scorch mark on the shoulder. Do I just not understand how blasters work on this show? That’s hosed up Garibaldi. “Don’t blink” hosed up.

S1E16 Eyes Does Garibaldi ever get to ride that or is just working on it that’s satisfying? Recurring character! Oh I like Lennier and Garibaldi pairing up that’s cute. Who is this douche? This barman has amazing mutton chops. Lol you know him intimately but don’t know he doesn’t drink? IA? Oh poo poo new regulations. You tell’em Ivanovo, gently caress Psi-Corps There’s no problem with security because Garibaldi runs it rear end in a top hat. This dude is worse than Bester. Ok I like Gray though. He laughs at jokes. Awwwwww Lennier wants to build the bike. This is making the episode ok. Is this dude really IA? Hm, this is a good way to get all the secret files from B5… “Colonel Ben Hitler” Government seems like it’s going to poo poo Lennier learned Japanese fast. Having surround sound in the remastered version works well for this creepy dream sequence. The way this show is utopian is that Sinclair is always able to rules lawyer his way out of stuff. Of course he’s friends with Bester. I just realized amid all the Psi Corps stuff we haven’t seen Talia in awhile. Dude I know you’re trying to be nice but leave Ivanovo the gently caress alone. This is like a very clever clip show. Garibaldi may be a bootlicking strike breaker but he is really good as Sinclair’s conscience. Fuckin politicians Nice, Ivanova took the improvised weaponry feat. Lol turning the good guy psi cop against the colonel. I know that Sinclair leaves because of the actor’s mental health struggles and I’m gonna be sad. “That will be all mister!” “Stop right there mister!” “Picking trash out of garbage cans to prove who was loyal?” “Colonel? Pain.” Great example of what psi talent can do that we haven’t seen so far. Oh poo poo Lennier’s a mechanic. Noice, alien engine. And a little climate change recognition. “Get out of here” he starts leaving lol. Amazing two-up riding there at the end. S1E17 Legacies I love how often the past transgressions and wars come up in realistic ways, like this ship giving Sinclair a PTSD flashback. And beginning of next episode there’s more psi lore, so I’m excited about that. I thought Talia attacked her to stop her but she passed out from some other psi issue? That sucks to have to honor the memory of a great leader of a war you were in on the opposite side. I feel like Delenn should be a bit more empathetic than that. Oh poo poo, THE HERO of the opposite side who led the ship that killed all your friends. Seeing more between the religious and warrior castes. Oh there it is, she’s not being empathetic because she’s against it too. Cool use of sound to get the inside mental effect across. Ivanova does not want anyone sent to the psi corps. I do love how as much as this is episodic each episode relies on characterization they’ve built So were the Grey Council more part of the religious caste? And that’s why Delenn is so unhappy with this showing off/rubbing in that the warriors are doing? Lol body gone and you didn’t want any human security dude, feel like that’s on you. Oooooh interesting here is the agreement between castes being laid out a bit. Hah, carrion eaters as a whole group of alien races. Smooth steal on that comm link. Gross. Stomach pump. Narn recruiting her for genetic samples, hahaha Hahahahaha the Narn homeworld is apparently horrific Oh it’s the Narn mind. Look on the Minbari ship, Garibaldi, this is obviously a set up. Minbari are really bad with idioms Ok it was an inside job, not a set up. More Wind clan? Yep religious va warrior castes. More rules lawyering. From Delenn now, and a confirmation that gray council is religious caste? All the heroes of this show are rules lawyers. Gonna loving love it if the giant shadow squids are defeated by quoting rules of physics to them or something. Goddamn Sinclair. Your humility knows no bounds. A little sad that they relied on hiring a clearly adult Asian woman to play 14. What is Chrysalis? S1E18 A Voice in the Wilderness 1 Star Wars sequel! Obviously this takes place in the galaxy with Starkiller Base Delenn giving G’Kar a lot of credit here. Lol Mollari using physics to explain his own lack of cultural and emotional control I really can’t wait to see what the long term Centauri/Narn story line looks like Oh poo poo full revolt in colonies I like how co pared to Trek this really goes beyond the station. The news broadcast here is really cool to see in a show like this Sinclair is constantly walking away from food, More indications that Minbari society is fundamentally changing, is the plot w Sinclair related to this? Minbari are elves apparently, they go to the sea to move on Who does Garibaldi still know on Mars? Felt like all his ties have been cut especially with the alcoholism plot a few episodes back Mollari: BUT WHAT IF THE WHOLE PLANET IS MADE OF GOLD See Garibaldi being a tube stalker doesn’t pay off Ah there’s someone left there on Mars If I help you call your ex will you stop stalking me on the tubes? Whoa missiles Stop going that close to the planet dumb dumbs Ok so is the planet part of the long term story? Why was this planet picked for the Babylon stations and is this tied into at least some of the destruction/disappearances of 1-4? How many times has Mollari been married lol Guy who needs help is an old holo from the planet? Interior planet base, cool Fuckin paranoid psi-corps, at least they’re gonna help a bit Hey Sinclair and Ivanova maybe be careful of anti-personnel defense grid too? Since it was firing missiles I’d be going in with marines and armor And yep first thing they find is soldier’s body Yup, smart Sinclair, laser defense grid Super smart figuring out the recharge pattern Planet interior looks like Halo Centauri don’t understand childhood development, or maybe just Mollari. Kids need to develop motor skills and right/left awareness, dawg “Yeah well it’s an imperfect universe.” And here comes the cliffhanger, BURIED ALIVE HOLD THE DOOR How long has this dude been hooked up? Oh the cliffhanger was not what I expected! Unrelated and from TKO: as others have noted stuff like not all Narn following the same religion, I liked seeing alien species with multiple skin colors and such.

It's a pretty fun thing to read about, but don't until you're through the series because pretty much any article you read is going to contain spoilers.

Apparently I posted this in the Trump thread on accident. Im not really taking notes on S2E3 The Geometry of Shadows but the single funniest moment in the whole show is Vir taking a tiny sip of Londo’s mostly finished drink, considering it, finishing the last like, ounce of it, turning and then just falling over. S2E4 on the fighters going out to be the rescue line for the Cortez: Sheridan going “I’d give anything to be going with them.” Sinclair would have said “Yes, the last man will be hanging out in midair, which is why I have to be the last man.” Not saying it makes Sheridan lesser, Sinclair would have done it because of his death wish. I'm on the side of watching the pilot after season 1 has hooked you. The Gathering is bad and cheap in a way nothing else the show ever made is and I can absolutely see someone bouncing off it from that.

In the pilot i was quite fond of the honking big PPG rifle Sinclair used at the end. No dinky little blasters for him, just a real longarm to make you feel inadequate.
