Agreed!! That Pacers Heat game yesterday was great until the end when the rest of the Pacers team became too much for Malcolm Brogdon to carry. I love Bam. He's such a cool player to watch.

Since this is 2020, I expect Luka's foot to get snapped off during the game.

Such a dumb decision. He's 21 years old in his first playoff series. Of course he is going to be insistent on playing. Medical staff and Carlisle gotta do better than this.

I think he gets a couple paid years if he doesn't coach, but if he does get canned and can get a new job I think the Bulls could do a lot worse.

I think minimizing the days in the bubble is a huge deal. Both in terms of safety and people lives being interrupted but also going into next season.

I mean isn't one of the arguments for doing this whole thing that it's safer for the players than being outside the bubble? I get that they don't want to keep them locked up for too long but rushing through it definitely increases the odds that someone gets hurt. Trying to do next season on a normal timetable just seems naive.

I think with no travel having more than 1 day off doesn't help as much as usual. Would definitely help with things like sprained ankles though.

I think in general the players would rather have a tight schedule though.

Here is my explanation of why the draft is obviously rigged

Oh? My evidence and statements are directly contradicted by these things and seems to be a mix of cherry picked anecdotes and general vague pop psychology and can't seem to create an accurate prediction of future events or an internally consist explanation of past events?

Well in conclusion the owners are a land of contrasts

I haven't provided any incontrovertible or admissible evidence or a direct explanation. And I would not even if I wanted to. I would not want to make enemies with potentially over thirty billionaires (and their friends). That's just a bridge too far. These guys sign checks with fountain pens that are worth more than the average house in the US. The same goes for any incriminating evidence against national-level politicians.

My point is merely that these scenarios and the idea of conspiracies over money and collusion should not be thought that outlandish. I don't see a contradiction in that as the profit motive remains intact throughout. I don't believe there's much psychological evidence of owners not wanting to maximize profit or anecdotal evidence of the same.

As far as providing accurate predictions and/or internal consistency. Those are two extremely tall orders considering how things can change on the fly in a given year or two (for a host of reasons) i.e. where to send the #1 pick could change based upon what forecasting metrics the NBA was using at the time. Or the NBA could even employ a lottery within the lottery. A conspiracy would not have to be an annual event either. It could only be initiated at pivotal moments or under special circumstances.

Internal consistency would also be hard to prove because the league and its rules etc. do not have consistency. They have a fluidity and have evolved so much over the years. Not to mention ownership groups and changings-of-the-guard in leadership.

PS this is mostly conjecture.

Owners also prefer to remain in the shadows. Now that's all I have to say about that I've got about that now if you'll excuse me I have episodes of The Benefactor and Shark Tank on my DVR I need to binge through but only after I read the NBA 3.0 interview with Vivek. I need to hurry up with that too because I need something to talk about with my date on our Uber ride to the JD and the Straight Shot concert

That leaves dozens and dozens of other principal owners. I'm not getting at just only TV time or exposure anyway. I'm talking about all their business dealings and how all the owners really relate to each other behind closed doors where no phones or cameras venture. I've seen Shark Tank a decent amount and Cuban never divulges anything relevant in this regard. Even when James Dolan was trying to be candid about his sordid relationship with Harvey Weinstein in that one track he never went into much detail at all.

Now many will say that that's all their business and the fans have no right to that info. And that's fine. But we shouldn't pretend that we really always know what's going on or that all these guys who've partaken in a myriad of unethical things in the open are suddenly saints and paragons of ethics when it comes to their NBA dealings.

I recall a few years back most here came to the conclusion that they didn't trust PricewaterhouseCoopers running the draft lottery and also would not trust NBA owners explicitly. But when they combined their powers we were supposed to give them the implicit benefit of the doubt because the alternative was just too painful to realize and admit.
