In the rom com she only finds out the guy was stalking her on accident, then he admits he was wrong to do it but she's so wonderful it drove him to it and she finds it endearing that he blames her for his criminal behavior and falls for him. He usually doesn't admit to the stalking until after getting caught out. Like the movie where David Spade dognaps Elizabeth Hurley's dog.
