gently caress the whales, what have they ever done for Germany? Also, seeing as how the global economy is in the shitter whilst German GDP is starting to actually grow, let's get some tax breaks for foreign investors to encourage business to move here and keep that GDP train rolling. A moderate level of tax breaks should do for now, we can always expand them later if we need to.

The environmentalists would have expected no less, while the farmers were disappointed. (whale farming being one of Germany's largest agricultural sectors, of course) The proposal to legalize all drugs was finally implemented, having been one of the LFAP's core issues since the election. Parents and conservative groups were outraged, and many voiced concerns that this would make Germany the central hub for drug smuggling to the rest of Europe. At the beginning of next quarter, the economy seemed to be at an upswing although the problems with drugs being smuggled out of the country was becoming apparent. (that Friedman quote is p funny too) The increases in productivity finally meant that the German economy was once again in a good position to compete globally. This restored the faith in Germany's abilities to pay of the government debt, resulting in an upgraded credit rating. In fact, the government was finally running at a surplus thanks to the increased GDP and lowered interest. The global economy also showed slight upward trends for the first time in years. The LFAP's popularity remained stable, showing only a slight drop of a few percent from last quarter. Even the capitalists were slightly more happy, their faith in the country's economy somewhat restored. The conservatives where understandably annoyed with the liberal new drug policies. The parent's were also concerned with how the readily available drugs would affect their children. The increased GDP has some drawbacks as well, as the population was again able to afford alcohol again despite the high taxation. Initial reports on drug use showed a dramatic increase, although it was still unknown how much of this was simply due to the fact that the people who had previously purchased drugs illegally where now switching to doing it in ways more measurable by the government. Still, many analysts suggested that drug taxation should be a priority for the government, in order to better control consumption as well as creating a fair bit of income. Legislation time! No crisis to vote on this turn. 31 PC available. Also, a mini-competition! The LFAP has gone far too long without a proper party logo! However, I'm sure you party members could come up with some great designs. The logo should have a maximum size of around 200x200 pixels, to be used in all official updates. The best submissions (determined by my own arbitrary opinion as well as the thread's) will be rewarded with a fancy party official title of your own choosing, as well as double votes for all legislation votes for the rest of the LP. The winners will be decided two updates from now.

Drug Tax, about 2/3 of the way up the bar. Make money off our newly legal drugs.
|
# ? Mar 29, 2014 16:59 |
Yeah, I like the idea of a 2/3 drug tax. I'm pretty certain all of my votes so far have all been in favor of making more money, so let's continue that pattern.

Of course legalizing drugs would solve all our problems.

Can't have alcohol consumption going back up, let's restrict alcohol law two more notches.

If I voted to reduce legalization down to LSD, would I be starting at one vote again? Because I don't agree with heroin and cocaine being legal.

Restrict Alcohol to 21 or older This switches the law from causing more people to drink to less people while only slightly bothering a few people (all of whom love us).

I'll just keep on voting for State Housing. Just think about it, our goal of having a pair of Lederhosen in every closet will be that much easier to achieve when we're the ones owning the closet.

The first steps of the "hookers, coke, and monorails" tourism campaign is finished. But, in order to get our plan in full motion, we need money. And what better way then taxing these new legal drugs (2/3rds of the way)!

Let's legalize Gay Marriage. Alienating the religious voters can only be a good thing for our Bavarian-centric lederhosen party.

Here's my entry, it's surprisingly hard to find images of lederhosen without people in them. Also my spellcheck doesn't accept lederhosen despite me actually getting it correct when I first wrote it.
|
# ? Mar 30, 2014 02:39 |
I decided to go a bit minimalistic - the blue-white diamond pattern to draw reference to the Lederhosen via Bavarian symbolism, and the text done in style of German party Die Grünen, the party we're closest aligned to according to PoliticalCompass.org. I even picked the same font!

drat, I'm really enjoying these (even if you tend to get the german flag upside down for some reason ), I'll be adding them to the OP. We will probably be deciding the winner by popular vote in conjunction with the regular vote two updates from now, so anyone who wants to join in will have at least one more week to do it.

That should totally be implemented. Not because it's good or anything, but because Germany totally has that. Even more so - it's not just a bank holiday, it's a general holiday.
