We have upwards of 19 ducks who treat our kitchen window as a sort of drive thru for sunflower seed. Most have been away nesting for the last while, until a female arrived a few days ago with her 11 young. Then there were 7. Then 6. Now 3 this morning  (picture from yesterday) We've also a feeder that attracts various types of birds, sometimes all at the same time. Its funny when the odd blue jay comes along and tries to grapple this thing.  In the 1960s in Newfoundland our government created a program called centralization in which remote outport towns were resettled to "growth centers", by cutting off what little services they had like schools, mail and health care and giving families a pittance with which to start anew in their new, forced homes. Anyway, survivors and descendants of them have cabins in many of these long defunct towns, as my family does. Only accessible by boat, its exactly the kind of tranquility the soul needs when you're burnt out from work and day to day life. Theres plenty of wildlife of course, and some of the birds are also quite tame (and gluttonous)
