PREVIOUSLY, ON TOONAMI it was another Ninja Kamui marathon. Overall, I'd say NK was "decent enough". I thought, going in initially, that we were gonna be getting sort of a throwback to the mid/late 90's ultraviolence era (or at least what I've been told of it), using a revenge story framework to do something like an anime John Wick with ninjas instead of hitmen. Instead I think it ended up feeling like the show itself forgot about the revenge element partway through. The back end of the last episode seemed very rushed, to me. Very "oh poo poo, we gotta wrap this poo poo up right NOW". anyway SUPERMAN SHOW RETURNS TONIGHT WITH A DOUBLE DOSE AT MIDNIGHT TRIP REPORT I saw Nausicaa in theaters last Sunday; pretty good. Also felt like it ran out of runway at the end, though not nearly to the same extent Porco Rosso did. Then I saw Castle in the Sky Monday; that movie slaps too. They're both extremely video game-rear end movies; I imagine that if you were to put on the glasses from They Live while wandering around Nintendo HQ, you would see the stack of design documents for the Switch-generation Zelda games transform into blu-ray copies of Nausicaa and Castle. It's like watching Enter the Dragon; vast amounts of modern popular culture suddenly go "click". Also, I literally just got back from seeing Furiosa in premium 4DX (motion sim) format, and let me tell you: George Miller still motherfuckin' got it. I hope he gets to make Wasteland at some point in the near future before we all just have to start living through it 24/7. e: I guess i'll see you all next week, then Argus Zant fucked around with this message at 04:59 on May 26, 2024 |
