Directed by: David Cronenberg Starring: Marilyn Chambers, Frank Moore, Joe Silver, Howard Rysphan, Susan Roman Sex/violence/surgery obsessions are evident in this bizarro early Cronenberg which only feels like a "Cronenberg movie" in moments--otherwise it owes a great deal to George Romero, not that it's trying to hide its heritage. Mostly of note for Cronenberg fans; it's not great but it's not bad either. The creepy/affecting moments the messy plot musters up are a tribute to the director's undeniable talent, even before he truly settled into his own macabre style. RATING: 3.5 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076590/

Yah, it's no `Fly'. Some pleasantly atmospheric bits in it, with dump trucks full of corpses cruising around etc. but the armpit tuck kind of wrecked it for me. By all means make a film called `Rabid' about an outbreak of rabies, maybe call it something else if it doesn't actually have rabies in it anywhere. Voting 2.5. Worth watching if it comes on telly, not worth investing in.
