What an incredible film. It's a story of revenge and vengeance, but it shows how these actions are not without consequences. The sister of a deaf mute needs a kidney transplant soon, or else she'll die. The mute does not have the funds necessary for her operation, so he decides to kidnap a wealthy businessman's daughter and hold her for ransom. However, things don't work out as planned, and soon the mute and the businessman fall into a destructive path of revenge.

It's an incredibly despressing, disturbing, pessimistic, and nihilistic film. The characters are so tragically flawed, and you'll watch as revenge takes hold of their lives and completely destory them. The mute tries desperately to save his dying sister, willing to give up everything just to give her more life, and the things he goes through and the person that he becomes because of this is gut-wrenching. Same with the businessman. They both become mere shells of their former selves, moving through life like automatons, killing without any sense of morals or conscience. Vengeance begets more vengeance, becoming an endless, destructive cycle. The end of the movie culminates in this full circle of revenge and it just leaves you cold and empty inside. It's powerful. Kill Bill's rumination on revenge is nothing compared to this.

The cinematography of this movie is amazing also. Each shot is so methodically constructed, and there's always so much going on. The movie is very intersting to look at.
