Directed by: David Cronenberg
Starring: Christopher Walken

This movie's worth seeing just for Walken's performance, which is perfect. The plot's not bad, but it definitely feels 20 years old -- pretty simple and scared of getting too sci-fi. Still, it's got some nice twists, intense moments, and all that good stuff you'd expect from a Stephen King adaptation.

There's some slower parts during the middle third of the movie, and the jumpy timeline doesn't help. We watch Walken recovering from his injuries but never really get a sense of how long it's been since the last major plot point (after helping catch a serial killer, he moves to another town and starts his life over again. Instead of just saying "1 year later", the movie spends 10 minutes slowly establishing this fact.). There's a lot of plot to cover in 1.5hrs and the movie does a good job of keeping things seperated and clear.

Martin Sheen is also excellent as a creepy politician.

A great performance and cool mix of drama and scifi more than make up for some of the more boring parts of the movie.

RATING: 4.0

PROS: Walken's performance, exciting and interesting thriller
CONS: Jumpy timeline, slows down in the middle
