So, I am watching LOGH for the first time this week, and I just finished the first season (sorry to derail any current topic). Wow, I really do not know what to say. The first 2 episodes I felt were really slow, but after that the show has steadily increased its tempo all the way to the end of the first season. The art really turned me away from this show for the longest time, but I do say after only a few episodes I forgot why I hadn't started watching this sooner and was hooked. I suppose I sound like a broken record, I bet people have been saying that for years in this thread, but all I can say is more people should watch LOGH. :keke:

Goddammit, fine then. I still reserve my right to bitch about poor quality (and long download times, Jesus Christ it is going to take forever).

The biggest mistake I made was putting off this show because of the visual quality. Once you get into it you start to appreciate it.

So the only time in the entire series I was caught off guard by randomness was this part. Thought I would share.

SO I am on episode 70-something, watching the show whenever I have time and I was doing very good avoiding all the spoilers, however Code Jockeysomeone in the recommend an anime thread gave a pretty huge spoiler about Yang's fate. This has kind of made me lose a bit of interest, and it was my fault for browsing over the spoiler in the first place. My question is - was this the big twist at the end of the series or should I continue to watch it?

It doesn't really bother me, but why dont any of these planets ever orbit around a sun? They are always in the same position with one another.

Uhhhh what? They're all in different solar systems? They just don't talk about the other planets/ non-inhabited systems since they don't matter?

I think you just don't get how a galaxy works I guess :geno:

Wait, how far apart are these planets? Are we talking like from earth to mars, or galaxy to galaxy? I don't remember them ever explaining the actual distance between the planets :(

E: Although as I said that I do seem to remember them constantly referring to the _____ -system v:shobon:v

Huge spoilers, Don't read this Aliginge as you are only on ep 62.

Ok, I was pretty pissed with the way Yang died. It was so loving predictable when Fork was killed instantly and the escort ship wanted to board Yangs ship. If only he didn't take those sleeping pills.

E: I was also hoping after he died they would play the original ED for dramatic effect, but they didn't, but then a couple episodes afterwards they did. it was a nice touch, I thought. not really a spoiler but I'll just be safe.

SO I finally finished this series, don't know why it took so long. what an awesome ending! The Empire definitely had a better cast then the FPA, although the alliance had a few good characters almost the entire empire side was just badass, especially Oberstein.

Here's a point for discussion: what was the deal with Trunicht in the very end? Does anyone buy his revalation to Ruenthal that he was trying to infiltrate the Imperial governement to make it more democratic? Was he always looking out for Number 1 or did he really have an agenda that was actually good for someone besides himself?

I think Truniht was joking when he agreed with what Reuental said, probably just to get a reaction from him. Truniht made it pretty clear he didn't care about autocracy or democracy as long as he came out on top.

Farmer Crack-rear end posted:

Yeah, it was definitely a great decision. Like I said, I think it was more powerful to have Yang die. I think my real complaint is with Julian's ascension, not with Yang's death; he's just a little too much of a boy wonder and... his voice kind of annoys me. (Yeah, Reinhard was pretty absurdly savant as well, but then I never found him quite as interesting to watch as a lot of other characters anyway.) It's hard for me to really enjoy Julian like I do a lot of the other characters.

I'm really not sure how I would "fix" it either. It's not a showstopping flaw, it's just something that I don't like as much, although interestingly it does make the Imperial-centric episodes that much more interesting to me in the last season (well that and also the escalating Reuental situation).

Whatever man, Reinhard kicked a kid in the groin and hit him with a rock. 'nuff said.

Hey, should we organise some informal simulwatchathon of our own over the winter break? The series only takes about two solid days of watching, right?

I dunno man I can't think of anyone who can dedicate 2 solid days to watch a show. you would have to stick to a pretty tight schedule of only watching LOGH.
