Directed by: Martin Scorsese Starring: Ellen Burstyn, Kris Kristofferson Alice surprised me with how good it was, roping me in and keeping me interested throughout. The mother-son dynamic between Ellen Burstyn and Alfred Lutter was absolutely spot-on, the supporting performances were excellent, and the camera technique was intriguing without being intrusive. It had warmth without sentimentality. But then, right at the end, something awful happened. I won't spoil it, but it's terribly "Hollywood" (and apparently was mandated by the studio). But up until the last 5 minutes, it's a good movie. RATING: 3 PROS: interesting characters; excellent performances CONS: horrible ending ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071115/
