Directed by: Jonathan Parker Starring: Crispin Glover, David Paymer, Glenne Headly, Seymour Cassel, Joe Piscopo Ho-hum adaptation of the classic Melville story. Comes off like a made-for-TV movie, or possibly a new episode of Twilight Zone. Crispin Glover does his usual meek and nervous thing, which I don't think is quite right for the part. Didn't care for the ending either. Stick with Melville. RATING: 2 PROS: kudos for attempting to adapt a great story CONS: doesn't do a good job with the material; contains Piscopo ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0230025/

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Crispin Glover does a marvellous portrayal of screwball person who is talking to rats. I haven't seen the original, so I'm judging it from 'fresh' point of view. The movie definitely has its moments. 4/5 PS: Ben kicks rear end! vvv Huh? Piney fucked around with this message at 19:33 on Jan 22, 2005 |

I agree, a bit ho-hum for my taste, and honestly, for all the hype it gets, the Melville story isn't that great either. 2/5
