man is it a good thing cronenberg got better because this isn't even as watchable as Rabid

there are a couple interesting scenes but the zany cronenberg bio-warp ideas don't appear at all until like the last 15 minutes, and until then this is mostly just a plodding and predictable horror flick that takes forever to do anything. i guess what reputation this has comes from people being freaked out by the ending in 1979 but cronenberg's later work far overshadows what little there is to see here.
