It might be a glitch on their end from them changing their billing details? I looked through my bank statement to check it out and the payment was listed as DDT PRO-WRESTLING going back to April last year and WRESTLE UNIVERSE this month. Interestingly they didn't charge me for September 2020 and charged me twice in October to make up for it, so maybe theres a credit on your account somewhere you can get a refund on if you're not planning on sticking around.

Finally watching the 14/1 DDT (just in time to fall behind again) and I have to quote directly from Dramatic DDT'S blog "Kazuki Hirata began dancing unconsciously before the match because he was suffering from withdrawal symptoms after spending some time away from the dance gimmick. When he got to do dance in the ring the enthusiasm was so high that it caused a power outage in the venue. Everyone agreed to use Dieno’s backside as a power supply but the cable was not long enough. The wrestlers agreed to form a human chain from Dieno’s butt to the power source. The plan worked but the power wasn’t enough to bring the electricity back to full surge. Shinya Aoki came up with the solution to do the Hell Gate on Dieno, giving the anal power source the energy Dieno needed to power up the building again. Hirata got to dance..." With of course copious fart noises over the PA

Going from watching a lot of DDT house shows in short order to thus AJPW from the 18th, it really makes it clear how drat much better throwaway DDT shows are. Like, it's not been bad and we've gotten to the semi-main in an hour but it's all very much just there. Not that I blame them really but I dunno, DDT has a much deeper roster I guess.

I think it's also possible to inject more variety in a humour based wrestling show than a more sports based presentation. In a throwaway AJPW or NJPW show you might get some good matches but if the card is about the same as the last one, the resulting show will be about the same. Whereas even with a similar card the nonsense Dieno or Honda get up to tonight may be entirely different from the night before.

Yeah, DDT gets the reputation of being a comedy promotion. They've also got a lot of traditionally great wrestlers (Always have) in addition to Joshi and garbage/deathmatch wrestlers. Their reputation comes from most of the viral clips out of DDT being things like the Anywhere matches or Ibushi carrying an inanimate sex doll to a 5 star match but DDT has always been pretty serious about trying to highlight every single style of wrestling out there. With NOAH & TJPW they're really the type of wrestling that WWE fans think the WWE is. The only style I think they're not regularly using is Lucha Libre

Ohtani is dope but no Yoshida is bewildering to me. If that's Nomura done then honestly just stick a pin in All Japan, they blew it with Lee, blew it with Ashino barring a miracle, and I don't think Aoyagi is the guy (he's good-not-great imo). The top of their card is Kento, Zeus, Yoshitatsu and Suwama and Shuji, and age has caught up with the latter pair. Watching latest AJPW Korakuen and the team of Akira Francesco & Alejandro is one I want to see more of. Potentially fun All Asia Tag champs one day. Other thoughts, Baliyan Akki tagging with Nishimura, who turned up on ECW back in the 90s, and Yoshitatsu, who was on the WWECW show, tickles me. Tag match between Ishikawa & Honda and Kasai & Hirata is all about the TV title match setup but very good from that perspective. Yoshida not being in the Carnival still has me bewildered. Ashino coming out to Fuel is turning me into a fan of that dumb song. Meanwhile Lee coming out to Dropkick Murphys is still hilariously weird seeing he's not a MMA fighter from Boston. Oh gently caress Enfants just turned on Ashino what the hell is this? And then Lee started beating him and Iwamoto is having none of it and Lee is now in ET! Well That'sa surprise That angle was good and makes me want to see where it goes. Tag title match is good-not-great, 3.5* type deal.
