Directed by: Gore Verbinski Starring: Nicholas Cage, Michael Caine When I was told at work last night we got the Weather Man in for tuesday, that was the first I've ever heard of the movie. The cover was so bad rear end that I immediately wanted to watch it. Nicholas Cage with a bow slung over his shoulder in a buisness suit. I sat down this morning to watch it, and was very impressed with this film. The basic plot is that you have Dave Spritz (Nicholas Cage) who is a weather man for a local Chicago news station. His job seems to be the only thing in his life that is going well. His dad (Michael Caine), a very famous author becomes very ill, his son gets tied up in drugs and a few other suprises as well, his daughter is overweight and gets picked on a lot at school, and his ex-wife seems to be getting more and more detached from him. During the film he gets pelted with all kinds of fast food from disgruntled people. Every time I laughed when he got hit with something new, and the one time he even got payback which was hilarious. He eventually learns to cope with everything by archery. After being taught how to shoot, he frequently goes outside to shoot some targets when he gets overwhelemed. There's fantastic shots of a frozen over Lake Michigan, too. It's almost like American Beauty, except with a weatherman. The overall mood of the movie is so dark, yet ironic. The music throughout was great. It fit in every single scene so well, that it just added to the enjoyment of the movie. I loved every single minute of this film. Look for it tuesday, a definate rental. RATING: 5 PROS: That dark humor Nick Cage does so well, CONS: A little slow at some parts ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0384680/

Very good movie. I'm not a huge Cage fan, but he did a good job here. I think Caine stole the show here. You almost want to look him up on internet to make sure he isn't really sick. It was a little slow sometimes, but the pace between scenes is so fast, the slow parts are over before you really start to get bored. 4
