Looks like Criterion is going to start letting Eclipse sets go out of print. These are all now listed as OOP after the sale:

Late Ozu
Silent Ozu - Three Family Comedies
Travels with Hiroshi Shimizu
Alexander Korda's Private Lives
Chantal Akerman in the Seventies
The First Films of Akira Kurosawa
Basil Dearden's London Underground
Silent Naruse
Aki Kaurismaki's Leningrad Cowboys
Jean Gremillon During the Occupation

All films in the Akerman collection are upgraded to HD within Criterion's recent Blu-ray set that also includes Jeanne Dielman.

I really hope they get the non-blu-ray released ones out at some point. It's kind of bizarre that the Ozus and Kurosawas haven't been. I think they've changed this since I watched through them all, but I remember thinking it was strange that none of Kurosawa's first 10 films were even in HD on the channel.

I'm pretty sure the 40s Kurosawas I've watched on the Channel are HD, but they're pretty old transfers by now.

Still think there's a good chance we get some sort of Kurosawa and Ozu box sets. If not complete filmographies, at least something like all of Ozu's silents or Kurosawa's 40s films.

Also likely to get a 4K/Blu box set of Laurence Olivier's Henry V, Hamlet, and Richard III. Imprint just announced a Blu box of the three films. Richard III has been out for a while from the Film Foundation 4K restoration, but Henry V and Hamlet have been stuck on DVD since forever.

Other filmmakers likely to get box sets soonish would be Rene Clair (at least a dozen of his films now have 4K restorations) and Bunuel's Mexican films (Radiance did a region free of his last three).

Some doofus cut my internet cable last weekend so we watched some films from the Jackie Channel box; Half a Loaf of Kung Fu was fine, but Spiritual Kung Fu was great. Kind of dovetails with the older Shaw Brothers stuff I’ve been working through from that first Shawscope box.

What an incredible month. I’ve been waiting for a UHD before I rewatch Barry Lyndon for years, and Carnal Knowledge is low-key better than The Graduate

Another great slate!

For those who care about stats...

Barry Lyndon getting a 4K upgrade was expected given it's the 50th anniversary and it was restored in 4K for the Blu. Licensed from Warner and was listed on the 4K leaks schedule. Looks like a digipak for the 4K this time around.

You Can Count On Me is a Paramount license and I'm pretty sure a complete surprise license.

The Truffaut Doinel set went out of print many years ago on DVD, so it's great that it's coming back as a 4K/Blu release. I just sold my copy of The 400 Blows, so excited for seeing the rest of the series. France already got this a year or two ago. MK2 license.

Carnal Knowledge was just announced from Indicator, so glad to see it's not a long wait for a US release. While their release likely has a more substantial booklet, Criterion is definitely besting it with the extras it seems. This is an MGM license (one of the Embassy titles MGM has North American rights to, StudioCanal international)

The Big Heat was already leaked by Eddie Mueller, hard to believe this is only the second Fritz Lang film on 4K so far (Kino Lorber put out Scarlet Street). Indicator put out a great UK (region free) edition as one of their first titles. Kind of surprised they didn't bring over the Twilight Time commentary. Sony license, so should be another perfect 4K restoration.
