55hp and everything 100% manual, it's a beaut.

I saw an Opal Senator a few months back, just sitting in someone's drive like it has been driven home from the dealer that week, blew my mind.

This is some Horizons: Zero Dawn kind of nonsense and I love it. It also makes me feel useless, but I'm okay with it.

At first I was thinking he washed the acid out of the cells and was therefore maybe ok handling the plates with his bare hands. But then the ground started bubbling up.

Watching it I had to keep reminding myself that when lead-acid batteries were first made, they were done entirely by hand like this. Though I'd hope with at least some PPE.

Safety tie and a driver's cap count?

It's always interesting to see how things are done in the third world. Every vehicle in the Caribbean that had been around the block a few times had vise-grip marks on any bolt that had been removed/replaced. One tool for all jobs. That battery place uses: hammer/chisel, snips, the blower/charcoal furnace/crucible/ladle, and that battery-powered soldering iron. I think that's it. Think about how many specialized tools are used in the real factory, then compare it to that. Astonishing.

Oh yeah, it's impressive how much they do with such basic tools.
