Stupid newbies need the most attention.
HAVE A LITTLE MOD CHALLENGE WITH YOUR MOVIE IDENTIFICATION

The old thread got pretty large (1200+ posts and over a year old...yikes) so I figured I'd start a fresh one.

For those who don't frequent CD, this thread is all about 'that movie you saw once.' You know the one I'm talking about. The one you watched one late night while the part of your brain you use for memory had already gone to sleep. That vaguely memorable scene where a guy wore a babyfaced mask and tortured people, or that french action movie where those guys do the thing where they jump from balconies, or that movie in black and white with dogs that talked to each other and they wore clothes and walked around on 2 legs and it was all live action or something.

Point is we've got plenty of vaguely memorable, yet blurred images from some odd movie we watched who knows how long ago and now's the time to find out what the hell that damned movie was.

Few things to keep this thread clean and happy:

1. Give as all the relevant information you can remember
This would include:
- what you remember seeing from the movie (anything and everything that you're sure of helps)
- where you watched it (TV, theater, rickety old VHS tape, etc.)
- about how long ago you saw it (few months, years etc.)

2. Quote/Thank people if they correctly identified your movie
Thanking someone for filling your request lets everyone reading the thread know that your movie was ID'd and doesn't need continual guesses. You don't have to sit hunched over your computer, a stream of drool sliding down your chin as you mash the refresh button over and over, eagerly anticipating an answer to your question......but you get the idea.

I think other than that, we're pretty good. The last thread went swimmingly (for the most part) and I'll edit any other important stuff here if we need it.

Ok, I have one.

I saw this in a hotel as a kid on tv.

It's a horror movie where apparently people were getting murdered by what I think may have been their dopplegangers... in any event the each actor had an evil counterpart that went up and tried to kill them.

One of the guys looked like Ben (the indian guy) from Short Circuit.

The deaths included one guy getting garotted by his twin and one guy being pulled face first down the toilet after seeing a bubbly mess come up from it (yes, similar to the blob). Someone else walks in and sees the bubbly mess forming in the toilet and backs up into their double who is going to kill them.

Any ideas?

I saw this one movie on a Canadian movie channel when I was still in elementary school (around early to mid 90s).

The setting was some medieval kingdom where the palace of the rulers were besieged. The queen took her kid son and some sword that was magic or something, and brought them to this ugly rear end troll/dwarf guy to look after. In order for the guy to agree, the queen had to give up the goods: ie off-screen sex. The prince grows up, tries to kill the troll guy when he's given the magic sword, except it breaks because it's a fake. Then he gets the real one and runs off to claim back his kingdom or something.

I forgot what happened in the rest of the movie, but I'd like to find out what the hell this movie was, and if it was as awful as I remember it as.

A man becomes preeminent, he's expected to have enthusiasms.

Enthusiasms, enthusiasms...
I want to say this is a World War II movie but I recall it being in color, so for the record don't limit to WWII scenarios. I believe I saw this early 90s on tv and it basically had a group of commandos escaping a compound after a mission completed. Most of the commandos got into a car and starting driving, and one black dude (think he was black, which of course is another reason I'm unsure it was WWII what with segregation, though that never stopped Hollywood revisionism) throws a grenade down a shaft or opening before chasing after the vehicle. They do the whole "cmon cmon!" thing but black guy gets shot while running and they have to leave him.

I've definitely seen that. I think it's the beginning of The Beastmaster. I remember it being a really long and boring segment.

vvvv yep, also the black guy is legendary Hall of Fame NFL running back Jim Brown.

Definitely not The Beastmaster (no dwarf or magic sword).
Did the sword have 3 blades? It may be The Sword and the Sorcerer http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084749/
But again, no dwarf.

This was on TV in the UK maybe five years ago, I didn't watch much of it but I remember this scene.

The setting was in some kind of hospital and a group of patients were pushing a bed down the halls and perhaps carrying it, the person on the bed was "conducting" Ode to Joy.

Reposting from old thread since no one guessed it. Maybe more luck this time around.

Watched This: Mid 80's.
Genre: Action, probably
Remember:
I remember the basic plot, but details are fuzzy. It's basically some girl who gets murdered or raped by 3 guys/campers and her dad/boyfriend/whoever goes out to get revenge.
The movie is mostly about him hunting them in the woods. I think the first camper who gets killed was a fat guy alone in the camp by the side of a river and gets chased a bit in the water before being drowned/or his head smashed by a rock, I'm not too sure. I dont rememeber anything about the rest apart from a lot of running through woods. At the end, after he killed them all three, he comes back home to find the cops there that tells him they arrested the 3 guys that raped/murdered the girl.

It starts out with a little kid being raised (imprisoned?) by this horrible troll/dwarf guy. I think the dwarf is supposed to be some legendary blacksmith or something. The kid grows up working for the troll/dwarf for like, 20 minutes of the film (or at least it seems that way). The deal is he has to kill the dwarf with the real sword so he can be free and actually start the movie. He finds at least one fake sword that looks like the real one, hits the dwarf/troll with it, and it shatters, the dwarf/troll laughs at him. Eventually he finds the real one, kills the dwarf/troll with it, and is allowed to advance the plot.

I've seen the introduction like 20 times but I don't think I've ever actually watched the movie all the way through. The dwarf/troll kind of looks like a cross between Hoggle from Labyrinth and the Leprechaun, except uglier.

edit: could it be the guy on the right? If not, it looks a lot like him. I remember it being pretty sepia as well.

Mine: May have been a silent movie. Probably a major one, but i can't fit this scene into any i can think of. A man is doing the chivalrous thing, laying his coat over puddles for a girl to walk over. He is distracted and lays his coat over a hole. Girl falls in hole. Help?

Ok, I think it's an late 80s/90s horror movie. Low budget.

There's a guy living in a house in suburbia somewhere. The only thing I remember is the end (or close to the end) of the movie, he's apparently gone mad, and he sees a bunch of devils (red man-sized devils) dancing around on his front lawn. Somehow he ends up dancing on the lawn with them (I think), and gets himself run over by a car.

Anyone?

edit: it may or may not have been called something like "devil next door", but imdb yields no result.

This is a shot in the dark, but possibly Bloodbath at the House of Death, an 80's horror spoof. There's not much said about it on the internet, unfortunately, so I'm limited to my lovely memory. I think the guy who looked like Ben (comedian Kenny Everett) had a metal prosthetic leg, and there was a running gag of him having to leave the group to take a leak.

There was another guy who had a giant mole on his arm. After he had gotten killed, his girlfriend came in and found the double. The double asks her, "Do you love me?" to which she replies, "Yes." The double then says, "Even my mole?", raises his arm, and the mole splits open and a snake thing or something shoots out and grabs the girlfriend.

At the end all of the main characters had been killed and their doubles congregated to, um, somewhere wearing white robes. That's pretty much all I can remember.

Saw this on cable late at night years ago... some sort of really obscure and really lovely kung fu movie made in the, oh, 70s, with all these fight scenes where EVERY SINGLE hit or kick in the movie used ONE and ONLY ONE "ka-tchhh" sound sample. The entire movie! No exaggeration. Also there was a character with no arms, and a character with no legs, and the no-legs guy had a set of hooks on his back with which he could hook on to the back of the no-arms guy and they would form a unified and complete fighting machine.

I remember a small girl looking outside a window of a castle (I think) waiting for her parents I think and then she runs downstairs to be caught a monster type guy who looks like a mummy. Okay, here's three I'm looking for

1. All I remember is a scene like a school dance and the floor opens up and it turns out to be a pool and everyone starts swimming and then something happens and the floor starts closing again and people are fighting to get out. Honestly I don't even know if it wasn't a dream.

2. I saw this on a movie that had a bunch of clips from different horror movies, nost in the the genre of the Toxic Avenger. The movie I'm trying to find is about some people moving into a house and then going crazy/getting haunted. The specific clip I remember is the 'hero' going into the front room with a lady sitting at a table, he sets down a shotgun and one shell rolls onto the floor. The 'hero' bends over to pick it up and when he stands again, the lady is a monster. There might be a part with a haunted stuffed fish.

3. This is the important one
I saw this in the early to mid 90s, Scientist creates robot that looks exactly like a human, robot either goes haywire or misinterperets its orders and starts killing people. The scientist dies/get killed when the robot steps on his hands when he is hanging over some machinery. A group of people get stuck in the building with the robot and it starts killing them one at a time. The people decide to make sure no one is a robot by cutting everyones fingers to make sure they bleed. The fat guy's finger gets infected and the robot rips it off. The girl hero goes into a room and sees the latina girl with her head blown off and a note on her saying "There's two" apparently the girl robot was weaker because she could bleed. Eventually only the guy and girl 'heroes' are left and they get out. But the robot comes after them and they get control of this giant robot that rips the bad robot in half but the bad robot gets on top of the hood of the truck they're leaving in and they shoot it or something and get away.
This movie has been shown on the Sci-Fi channel.

I would really be amazed if somebody got this

I saw this on the Spanish Channel... in Sweden. Unfortunately, I don't speak Spanish so I don't know exactly what was happening, only that I loved it.

Our hero worked at a hotel and often found himself in embarrassing situations. He kept on being hit on and avoiding a woman that I'm guessing is his English teacher(?). Filmed in the 60's with bigtime swinger style to it and incredible music. There was one scene where he drank something, steam poured from his ears and we were watching in Kalaedoscope vision. A lot of flashy editing

I was so determined to find this movie that I took down notes, but lost them. They didn't show the credits at the end either. It was the longest I'd ever watched a movie entirely in a different language (no subtitles)

The movie was in French. It was about a woman whose husband was cheating on her with her sister, I think. The affair was obvious and she knew about it, and her husband knew she knew. At the end of the movie she jumps out a window .

Any help would be most appreciated.

I think it had something to do with aliens, the first part i remember was this guy driving in a car at night, and he puts a cd into his car stereo and then his car blows up out of nowhere.

The next thing I remember was this scene at a dinner party or something (everyone in suits), and this alien (i guess, definitely a bad guy) that looked EXACTLY like one of the twins from the matrix sequals lets out this horrible screech and throws this cutting disc thing at this guy and it cuts his head off and blood goes everywhere.

Ok, I actually don't remember if this was a movie, a short clip or what, but I just remember watching it and it's creeping me out.

It starts like this, apparently, there is a small orphanage, in which the kids are forced to do hard labor by some pig headed men (this could be part of my imagination tho), but not only that, but the kids are tortured and raped. In one scene, the kids are praying for god to save them, and suddenly an angel appears. As soon as he lands, the pig men see him and kill him, but not before they rip out his wings and disembowel him alive.

That is all I remember, does it ring any bells?

OK, I tried this last time, but it didn't work

Anyways...

I saw this on Bravo or Showcase about a 6 months to a year ago. I only saw the last half or so, but the jist of it is:
A guy somehow kills a girls father. She doesn't know this, and they end up in a relationship. In the end, she finds out, and has to decide whether to stay with him or not.

There was a scene with her packing up all of her fathers stuff from his apartment. The end of the movie is with both of them on a boat together.

It appeared to be a more recent movie...maybe made within the last 5-8 years or so, but I'm not sure.

This is a foreign language film. Norwegian or something, I'm not sure. It was subtitled.

I have googled/imdb'd this to death, and cannot find it.

Any ideas?

Sorry this is kind of vague, but it's the most I can remember. This has been bugging me for the last week because I can't remember what movie this is.

I remember there is this guy who has had a hostage for a while. There are police out front of wherever the hostage and hostage taker are. The hostage taker eventually agrees to come out, and he has the hostage in front of him. I think I remember the hostage was trying to help the hostage taker so that the hostage taker wouldn't get shot. I think the hostage taker is following police instructions, while the hostage, still in front of the hostage taker, is helping to keep the hostage taker calm, as I said before, to keep him from getting shot while they are walking towards the police. Then the hostage taker, who has been very nervous, falters or something and gets shot (I think; I'm pretty sure a shot is at least fired).
I think the hostage and hostage taker might have been related in some way.

Eternal gratitude to whoever can figure this out for me.

It's a serious move.. a drama I'd imagine.

The scene I remember is a young boy (around 10) is skateboarding home from a skate park, and gets hit by a car. He gets dragged under the car, and is holding on to part of it. His mum(or bystander) is screaming for him to let go, and it drags him for ages. There's lots of blood, and he ends up in hospital.

I also remember he had flashbacks, because it was the first time in my life that I found out you have flashbacks before you die.

His name was quite possibly Mikey?

Edit: It's also very possibly his name WASNT Mikey, and that I'm just getting that from the movie "Mikey" of around the same time.

I saw it on t.v in the early/mid 90's, so it probably came out in the late 80's- early 90's.

Movie type: World War II

What I remember: Its about a group of american soliders in the winter. Its basically them vs. a group of germans. They are "seperated" from the war, the americans stay in an abandoned church (?) .
There is a christmas scene, where ther germans have a x-mas tree and start singing x-mas songs, some of the americans come over, and they all stare at each otehr for a while, before they convince the germans that they want to forget about the war for just that one night. So the germans and americans stand around this x-mas tree together.

..The end of the movie is the main character (who wore glasses) narrarating how he delivered the letters of his dead friends to their family(?)

anyone know what movie this is?

Long-Lasting Minty Freshness!
I remember this weird movie on Sci-Fi back in the mid to late 90s. It involved some weird cult cutting their heads open so this shadowy thing could take its place. I think there were racks of brains where the person did it. Also they were bald and I'm pretty sure they had awesome tribal tattoos.
Also there was a part where the.. um.. protagonist was on some sort of ledge, reading this PDA thing.
...And thats all I remember :smith:
Whoever can figure this out will be my best friend forever.
