Somebody sent me a Dear Richard that the guy was too scared to actually send. It's also long as heck. Anyone want me to PM it to them?

This will probably be an epic recording
ok then. it's from one of those "we hate sa but we talk about it all the time" sites:
quote:
DEAR RICHARD semicolon
First, I'm going to state that overall I like you. You're funny on the frontpage, a good admin in most respects and you have a good team, generally speaking. Thing is, none of that matters. Because I have a handful of complaints, you're going to disregard anything good I have to say, and concentrate solely on the negative. So I wanted to say that I like you, but I'm not going to bother being friendly in this email, because it's waste of time. Of course, simply writing you is a waste of time, but I'll get to that.
I'm gonna do this one item at a time, so that it's easy to read. And FYI, often I will say "you" when I mean, say, Radium or another mod or admin. Unless there's something specific to that mod or admin, I'm going to keep it simple and just refer to you, since you take full responsibility for their actions.
First item is that you are unable to take constructive criticism. Radium is worse at it still. Also you act like a baby. If three people poo poo in your mangosteen thread, you throw a fit and gas it, even though there's page after page of intelligent discussion. You unveil a new "feature" in AdBot, get pissed that a lot of people don't like it, and take it personally. "They don't like ads stuck into threads, that means they don't want me to make money and keep the forums alive." No, it doesn't. You and Radium take criticisms personally. You ban people for complaining about your practices under the idea that if they dislike the forums, why should they be here? But they like the forums. They just don't agree with you on something. Not liking you, or a rule you've imposed, does not equal disliking the forums. There's more to the forums than you. Get over yourself, not everyone is here because they love you. Even if they do (like I do,) they can still disagree with you without it being a threat to your power or whatever. You rename GBS whiny faggots forum because some members gave you feedback that you didn't like. You demonize GBS as the bogeyman, and put yourself in the victim role because you refuse to deal with criticism directly. Stop acting like a petulant child and crying anytime someone tells you you're doing something wrong. When someone complains about latest thing X, you cry that they're whiny faggots who are against you making money. Sometimes it's true, but more often than not they are legitimate complaints that you owe a decent explanation for, because that's what you do for your customers. This is not how you run a business. It is childish and unprofessional. Which leads to the second point.
Alright, that was a paragraph of DEAR RICHARD if ever there was one. Just an appetizer, though. Second one is the meat and taters, so ignore this one extra hard.
Your site is a business. Accept this. You currently have a lot of "pants making GBS threads" because you're treating a business like a social club. Stop trying to have your cake and eat it too. Your customers at SA, aka the forum members, are by far the most poo poo-on customers in both the e-commerce and brick-and-mortar world. You ban accounts for complaining about dissatisfaction with the product and you tell people you don't want feedback. You tell people that they can buy an emoticon and it will be there for the life of the forums, then delete them and tell those people that if they complain about it, they'll have their paid service taken away. You CAN NOT have a business run this way. You still act like the early-20s Lowtax who's writing for GameFan Network, and got hosed over hard. I can empathize with not embracing this even after going to paid registration, but now that you're running ads and pleasing those advertisers' TOS (censoring some curse words for unregistered users, etc.) you need to grow up. Stop bitching about how much the forums cost you every month and how much work you put into them. I'm a customer, I don't want to hear your excuses. The archives were down more than they were open last year. I don't know or care why Radium hasn't fixed it, I just want what I paid for. I don't care if my emoticon was one too many for the server, I want what I paid for, what I was told would be there forever when I bought it. I want to be able to openly file a complaint, without hiding behind an email, because I've given you a lot of my money, and you are not satisfying me. I know you can't make everyone happy. You CAN quit sobbing about how unfair it is to do what you're paid to do, and to accept that you're a businessman.
I'm not a human being. I have been a happy member for over two years, until this past year. And speaking of faggots.
Your site is entrenched in homophobia. I've wanted to tell you this before, but I haven't been able to, since I'd get banned for it. human being is just as offensive as friend of the family, and you know it. You do not allow racism, you only allow friend of the family ironically and in FYAD, so you oughtn't allow human being. I'm not a dumb. I know the context. I know it's meant something lame or bad. That doesn't change that it's a slur. I doubt I could go around referring to other posters I didn't like as "niggers" for long before my account ended up in the Leper's Colon. Please consider at least not letting yourself and other admins use this term in their language on the forums. It is hypocritical to allow one slur but not another. Don't be cute, either; if you end up posting this in FYAD or new FYAD to laugh at it, don't take it to mean I want "friend of the family" allowed.
Finally, I know none of this will have mattered, because you're going to disregard all of it anyway. As cool as you are, it's one of your faults. gently caress, it's one of your defining characteristics. You mock people who get mad at you. I wanted to say them all the same. Grow up, treat your business like a business, you're not 23 anymore, stop looking at your paying customers like a stone around your poor oppressed neck and make them happy. I understand the concept of law and order in a forum, and commanding respect, because without it a forum will fall apart. That doesn't change that a lot of us are unhappy with the service. Stop letting Radium just be a whiny rear end in a top hat of an admin (good coder, but bad admin) because you depend on him for your coding.
If you care at all how I can say all of this, and yet in the opening header I stated that I like you, it's because of this: Nobody can approach these subject with you in a civilized manner without you acting in the same childish manner. If I had tried to be nice, you'd have reacted the exact same as you will now. I know your forums, like any company, isn't subject to free speech or any of that happy horseshit. This isn't an uninformed Dear Richard; I knew full well what I was getting when I signed up. It said, right there, that if I didn't like any of the rules, I could feel free not to register. I am trying to get through to you how you come off. I am a great poster and I contribute quite positively to the forums, I love them and they make my day brighter. Instead of making me and my email into a "whiny human being," or laughing it off, pretend that what I'm saying may have at least some merit to it. Because I disagree with you on some things doesn't mean I am disagree on everything. That's lovely debating; I'm not saying you need to die and your site go down in flames because I'm unhappy with one thing, so return the favour, please.
You said once in a thread, when someone said your style of leadership (not taking constructive criticism) will lead to a black hole of humour (re: your frontpage writing,) and you said "Then I'll become a black hole of humour." I was surprised, because it was one of the only times I've seen you openly address a direct complaint. If you don't care about your customers enough to at least acknowledge them and their (legitimate) complaints, then just say so. Please give me the courtesy a real, thought-out response. Thanks for your time.
Sincerely,
City of Faggots (Home of the fighting faggots)
P.S. I like AdBot, by the way. I love it, actually. That doesn't mean I like you and Radium crying about all the mean people who didn't like it, and making out all of GBS to be big meanies because some people didn't like it.
Essentially, the writer is an idiot.

someone do this one
Lowtax:
Being a paying member of your forums - though I won't say my username, at the risk of being exposed, banned, trained, and most likely ridiculed by loving idiots who betray at your whim - I would like to air my grievances to you, and hope that you have the common decency to read them with an open-mind and see my point-of-view. I was just wondering if you were actually aware that people, real, live people, pay real money to join your forums, under the premise that they will be able to post on all of the forums so far as they obey the clearly stated rules. However, I do not see any rules stating 'If Lowtax doesn't like your posting style, you are not allowed to post on certain forums.' Good to know beforehand, you know, before we shell over our ten bucks so you can buy more video cards or whatever the gently caress you do with your blood money.
And that's what it is, Lowtax. Blood money. You're now running the site like a loving scumbag corporation: pissing all over the paying customers and dismissing all complaints toward yourself as blasphemous ramblings of losers too concerned with something as petty as the internet. Yes, the same internet that you've made your ill-gotten fortune from.
You feed your family, pay for your house, your car, your life, all from money squeezed out of the poor, beaten hands of the forum members. And yet you barrage them with insults on a near-constant basis, tell loving tool moderators to beecock someone's posts because you don't like them. "Yes, please delete all of this paying customer's posts. gently caress 'em al." In retrospect, perhaps my comparison of you to the typical corpoation was a bit off. Most corporations treat their customers like humans. I don't know how you expect to keep raking in money from avatars, platinum, accounts, etc. when you poo poo all over your members. Getting rid of popular posters that attract people to the forums, great idea! What a solid business model! These are people that give you money through avatars and whatnot and you just basically tell them to gently caress off. Who cares about them, reading their posts doesn't give me the absolute greatest loving sensation. Let me loving circlejerk with Abraham and unfunny faggots like Ignite and Danny Maniac. You can read this and simply dismiss as another meaningless hate letter to you, like you always do, but realize this: your business skills are at the same level of an angry fat middle schooler nerd who has no friends and takes his anger out on everyone but abusing whatever petty power he recieves. Take another look at your business model before you lose it all, and consider apologizing to paying members whom you gently caress over for no goddamn good reason.
I sincerely hope that this has at least sank through into your unfortunately immature mind, and that you will seriously reconsider unfair and one-sided attacks against your customers such as the GBS train.
