Heres my DIY setup. LG 50 inch plasma Marantz reciever in 5.1 setup NAD stereo Amplifer AARPA/Zapco 3 channel modified amp for surrounds and center. And the speakers I designed and built my self Dayton rs180 7 inch aluminim woofer and a Seas aluminum/magnesium TAF29 dome. The crossover is 4 order with crossover point at 1.9k. In a ported .60 cubic foot box. All speakers in my living room are covered in a textured "hitech" flat black formica. Probably the favorite set I made. Id put it up against speakers costing 10x what it cost for me to make them. The center channel uses two dayton rs125 4 inch and the same seas alum/mag tweeter to match in a 2.5 way MTM. My surrounds are a fullrange tang band 4 inch I just had to add a little filter to get a nice response. And my Sub which Is a 1.75 ported box with a 250 watt PE amp and an Elemental 11k as a temporary sub untill I grab a peerless. TyroneShoes fucked around with this message at 22:24 on Mar 26, 2007 |

Mr_Softy posted:Nice to see some DIY in this thread. I do have a question, though. Arent the TB's sonic coloration far different than the Dayton's, and if so, doesnt this drive you nuts? Either way, nice job making your own stuff. Currently I'm thinking about building a massive sub to go with the CF4's when I get them. They blend quite well with the rest of the speakers. All aluminum cones. If they were doing anything but surround duties, I would make a nice micro 2way. I actually have one in my bedroom that uses a dayton 5 and tang tweeter. They would work as surrounds but I'll wait till I move to do it. I like having an excuse to build new bedroom speakers. TyroneShoes fucked around with this message at 21:25 on Mar 26, 2007 |

mattfl posted:Please tell me what those shelves are! I'm running out of room on what I got now and that looks like a sweet setup and expandable. I got them from Ikea but I forgot the name of them. In the bookshelf/entertainment center area. Theyre still available because I picked up two more shelves this month.

Pibborando San posted:Thanks, the wood looks amazing in person. I don't know if I'd say "quite a bit" of toe-in, they're a little more than 10 degrees I'd say. I had my previous speakers, B&W CM1s, toed-in even more, since that helped focus their imaging. With these, it doesn't seem to matter if they're facing straight ahead or angled directly at the listener, the soundstage and imaging stays consistently focused. Nice speakers. I see the vifa xt tweets (one of my personal favs) but what mids are those? Vifa Premium? Link to speakers? Edit: I see you posted a link later. Good taste you have and HSU makes a great sub. Overture posted:I've been searching through this thread trying to find images with what I am looking for in them but haven't had much luck. I'm about to move into a new place where I'll finally be able to mount my 40" LCD on the wall (my current walls are poo poo and will not hold the weight, it's very sad). I'll be getting rid of my TV stand because of this but still need some sort of tower or rack that can hold a cable box, DVD player, 360, small cable modem, and a router. I was thinking some sort of small, but thin in depth, type shelf maybe? Or is there a wall mounted setup that looks good? I have this base and my plasma wall mounted, but since you cant wallmount, this seems like the perfect option for you. Looks just like a wallmount. http://www.target.com/V-Hold-6-Ente...rank&rh=&page=3 They have a bunch of similar designs with different finishes so look around and the quality is actually very solid. Edit: Nevermind, I though you werent wall mounting. This is what I have http://www.target.com/Glass-V-Hold-...rank&rh=&page=1 Very well built and sturdy Not the best pic but I like Click here for the full 2048x1536 image.
