I was even gonna recreate it in this synth app on my tablet but by the time I got to a quiet enough spot the melody was gone. Shoulda just recorded a clip, in retrospect.

It's a piano piece, dark, slow and moody. Starts with an A, then 3 nothings, then something like f e d e, all minor Music teacher played the CD, taught me to play it 20+ years ago, never continued my music classes, as you can probably tell from my terrible description. I swear it was called Lucifer, but even after I filter out all the stuff from the TV series or the Alan Parson Project song I still can't find it or anything like it.

I just want to mention that I find this thread still existing to be pretty awesome! I originally asked for a song for my wedding here in this thread, and when I did, this thread already had a bit of age on it, and I'm now coming up to my 7th year anniversary. What an awesome community.

This bassline has been stuck in my head. As far as I remember it's from a reggae song, probably from the 70s/80s. https://clyp.it/m3yxfwez

WHY BONER NOW posted:What is the name of the genre of music you hear in cyberpunk video games, like Deus Ex. Sort of a low key synth. I started playing Xcom: Enemy Unknown and the headquarters music is rad as hell: I'm not sure if it's called anything from a music theory point of view, but I believe that kind of stuff is typically referred to as "MOD" or "tracker" music, after the type of file format and sequencer used to create it, respectively: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Module_file https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_tracker https://modarchive.org/ Whether or not it constitutes its own genre I couldn't say. Honestly the only examples of it I'm at all familiar with are the Unreal/UT/Deus Ex soundtracks, by Alexander Brandon et al.

Are you sure you're not just thinking of Alice in Chains Unplugged Other than that, I dunno, maybe Extreme? They weren't completely acoustic, but their two big hits (More than Words and Hole Hearted) were.

Hip hop track which has a sax theme playing early in the song, then later the same theme comes back but played by a synth (possibly sax again near the end). More than one rapper, one of whom has a voice a little bit like busta rhymes? Probably from the last few years. Edit: Id been googling for a good while then found it just after posting this, it was this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sb3XfrCtjVU iSurrender fucked around with this message at 21:27 on Jun 26, 2017 |

Trying to find the song I saw a music video for that had the 2 musicians getting executed in different ways; dragging, hanging, firing squad. It had a western theme. Maybe from 6-8 years ago.

Okay this is hella vague, but I'm looking for a song that was trance//edm and it had a music video set up like an endless runner style pixelated (sci fi) video game. I think this guy wakes up from stasis and spends the video kicking rear end and heading toward the bigbad. It was really catchy, but I only saw//heard it ONCE.

I'm looking for a song/video and the band name escapes me. The song, I believe, is called "Scary" and as I recall, it's from a japanese band. It's somewhere in the rock/glam metal/electronic genre. I think the video itself might have been kind of trippy. The chorus kind of goes, "scare-reeee" and maybe it's a little sing-songy. I've tried my best to google over the months but I have turned up short. I checked Acid Mothers Temple, boredoms, and things of that nature. Anyone help? For some reason this is driving me nuts.

This should be an easy one. Haunting synth, real slow beat, a woman singing "(falling? hopeless?) in love" over and over again. I think it's their only hit, the rest of their stuff is pretty inaccessible.

So, I'm trying to find a song and I know nothing about it but the lyric fragment along the lines of "when I was born, the first words I heard were 'nobody move, nobody gets hurt.'" No genre or anything. I was thinking maybe it was Zevon, but I'm coming up blank. Edit: Literally figured it out 2 seconds later. It IS Zevon. "The Long Arm of the Law"

Not just a song, but a music video from the 80s. It's been occasionally popping up in my head for years. I saw it on some Russian website full of music videos, back in the pre-Youtube days. I don't remember the music at all, and I'm not sure what language it was in either. Probably a weird new wave song. It takes place in a large hospital room with a few patients in it. I remember that one patient was covered in bandages. The singer is there and brings in some sort of dancing witch doctor who heals them, and then they all start dancing around the room. Not a very detailed description, I know, but it was a pretty simple video.

Not sure if this is the right thread for it, but I was at a party the other night and someone put on a music video with a bearded guy singing in a room, and then at some point he goes to the balcony and there are fireworks over a big bridge. Can't remember if it was the Brooklyn Bridge or the Golden Gate. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Almost has to be a 1970s song because of the 1970s-sounding production. It's something I heard on an oldies station. Male artist singing solo. Chorus has "go to the city" or "in the city." The word "move" might be in the chorus as well. Perhaps "move to the city."
