Cheers for the suggestions, over the hills sounded close right near the end. Turns out it was when the levee breaks at around the 1:10 mark.

I just saw the end of a music video on a Chinese music channel (V, I think its called) and it was some really cool cinematic music. The video was two Chinese guys with painted grey faces doing a kind of performance art dance? Atop a person height Monolith in the middle of the room. The piano player (I think?) was a western looking woman, sat at the control station of the Monolith, it kinda looked like she was playing it in a way that made them act the way they were, maybe? The drummer was watching on from a kind of garage / cave just nearby, I think he was Chinese, but with a kind of 80s Americana style. The dudes atop the Monolith, one of them had a really long kinda tellytubby antenna, sticking out of his head, and the end was him taking it off and making like a sword motion with it "killing" the other guy. They both had weird shafts of light about them that almost looked like puppet strings? Anyone got any idea wtf I'm on about, it seemed very cool. Also, apologies if I got the nationality wrong.

UK rap, might be older (10-15 years?). Relatively calm video showing street scenes with the artists rapping. At one point children are staring into the windows of police cars. A guest rapper states how crazy he is in one sequence. Most iconic aspect of the video is how the eyes are obscured by wiggly lines which make the whole thing a bit unreal and even darker. Pretty famous but I can't find it. e: IC3 by Ghetts lllllllllllllllllll fucked around with this message at 13:29 on Apr 14, 2025 |

There's this song that I heard maybe 17 years ago, it's a guy talking about how he missed his flight and had to flight back and forth somewhere or something along those lines, and I *think* there's a part where he mentions a woman he meets. Also, he's not really singing, it's much more talking, and he has a strong European accent, but his spoken word is somewhat melodic and definitely accompanied by music. The music is VERY GotanProject-y. Infact, I'm wondering if it's even older and I was listening to a GotanProject radio on Pandora and that song came up. edit: Another song: there's a french punk song about a farmer, or at least the music video indicates that. The music video is black and white and features an old farmer farming. At least 12 years old. thehandtruck fucked around with this message at 06:02 on Apr 2, 2025 |

So I'll keep looking and post here when I find it! edit: Guess I'll add that it has a decently upbeat tempo, kind of neotango. god i can hear his voice in my head. he says something like, "so i went BACK to the airport, went BACK to the flight, blah blah blah" as his exasperation increases throughout the song thehandtruck fucked around with this message at 23:42 on Apr 2, 2025 |

a sort of jazz song, with a female vocalist - a "crooner", I think is how this style of music is described. Heard it on CBC Radio a few times in the '90s. One verse ends like this: "Sometimes I'm me / and sometimes I'm you /and sometimes I'm no one at all / sometimes I think / I should talk to a shrink / I guess I'll give one a call / guess I'll give one a, guess I'll give one a, guess I'll give one a call" another verse ends like this: "Sometimes the moon / is a silver balloon / and sometimes the moon is a smile / [missing line] / [missing line] / every which way is in style /every which way is in, every which way is in, every which way is in style" anything?

KICK BAMA KICK posted:Tried setlists.fm? Whether or not you can find your show it might help narrow it down. Ah, man, it was years ago but I don't know how many. On paper though, that's a really great idea, and I'll use it in the future. It's maddening how hard this is given how much detail I have, the thing is he does stuff live very differently than on albums, and on different tours, so even as I'm listening through his entire back catalogue, I might have gone past it without realising. It might have been a cover he just did live one time... Who knows.

I've been looking for the actual artist of this song that I downloaded off of limewire in 2000. I've tried Shazam, Soundhound, Google, and half a dozen others with no luck. I've never found even a snippet of the lyrics. My wife's Google helpfully suggested DJO when I played it for her, but I just don't think Joe Keery had these chops at 8 years old. Hosted on limewire because that's where it came from and it felt appropriate. https://limewire.com/d/BugOp#TvfDSQjpq7 About once a year I drive myself nuts searching it up again. I expect that it's from a small band that never cut an album, but please someone give me a clue to solving this 25 year mystery.

Yeah, this absolutely screams "baby's first demo" to me. I admittedly love (lack of) drum mixing and the live feel, though. I'll do a bit more digging when I can, this one is a really interesting snapshot of an era.

My guess is that it's from one of those free music hosts that were big at the time, like MP3.com or IUMA or AcidPlanet. Which probably isn't helpful (the Archive has most of IUMA and AcidPlanet, but you'd need the song's real name and/or musician... and even then, the metadata might be lost), but at least this could explain why you can't find it.

Okay I need some help with this one. the lyric: sometimes it/you don't make any sense at all or maybe sometimes I/you don't feel anything at all That's all I got! In my head, I'm placing it in that goth/new wave zone of Killing Joke, Echo and the Bunnymen, or The Church, but I'm not sure if its a true period piece or something more modern. I *think* its more recent but with kind of in that vibe. Male voice, low tone. It's definitely not a top-10 pop song. Google has been absolutely useless (sidenote: anyone else notice that google has become useless for finding lyrics?) Argh this is driving me nuts. I'm thinking of an indie song that likely came out within the last 10 years. It features a single male singer singing something... Memory is unclear but perhaps something about travelling a million miles, trying to find something (you?). The most memorable part of the song is the beautiful melody which is very reminiscent of the light plucking sounds used in Mr Sandman
