It's from an old Quake movie called Dantooine Five-O.

Sounds like some Satriani/Vai type instrumental but I don't think it's from either of their back catalogs.

Sounds like an instrumental version of "Smokin' in the Boys' Room" to me but yeah could definitely be Steve Vai, though it doesn't ring any bells.

Reminds me quite a bit of "Unskinny Bop" by Poison.

What's the first song in these two videos?

There isn't much for lyrics so I'm having a hard time googling them. Kind of a stretch on finding whatever these are.

Mega bonus points if the last song on the second video is also identifiable.

I do not have anything to go on with this.

It's a song that came out sometime between 2001-2003? There was a music video, with a goth-y looking woman who is on a beach, and there's a green light filter and some kind of snake motif to the song.

I literally don't remember any words from the song or how it sounds. It was a catchy-ish spoken not sung pop song, I don't think she had another single.

"Why you askin' (something)"

"In the room in the back (something)"

I'm completely out of how to google for this.

This probably isn't it, but it does fit the time period, she quit music a couple of years later, contains the lyrics "why ain`t you asking me to stay" and "try your moves in the back of your car", and the video has a green tinge at times:

The trick to Googling is to use as few words as possible, then subtracting common results that are getting in the way. Here's what worked:

code:
lyrics "in the back" "asking" -"timbaland" -"felice" -"roy jones" -"elbow" -"alexandria"

I was in a Russian owned/themed bar recently that was playing a lot of music with videos. There was one in particular I really liked but I can't find it.

The video alternated between a bunch of different shots of individual women all crying. The video would show prices for things like their makeup and jewlery. Someone who understood the lyrics said the song had something to do with material things not making you happy or something. The video looked well produced and like it came out relatively recently (like the last decade for sure). I don't remember the song itself that well so I can't even describe the genre, other than it sounded like contemporary alt-rock/dance/pop.

Reposting this from about a month ago in case anyone knows :ohdear: (also the lyrics were in Russian or something similar in case it isn't clear)

So this is a teenage pop song from the 60s, I guess. The singer sounds nasal and childish, like Ann Margret. Both the title and the chorus contain the name "Bobby". Something like "I'm in love with Bobby / Bobby is the one for me". You would think it shouldn't be too hard to google, but I can't find it.

I feel like this is going to be so easy I feel stupid or really hard because it's been driving me nuts for years, and was just reminded of it the other day

In the best song of all time (Judas' song "Heaven on their Minds" from JCS) there are two parts where the vocal melody, and the intonation, and everything about what he sings, makes me certain that another later song used the exact same thing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-voeq7Cebo

It's the part where he sings "how PUT DOWN we aaaaaare" (and then later sings something different with the same intonation and melody) (it starts at 2:29)

Goodness no, now that wouldn't do at all!
Thinking about a two man folk/punk band who put out an album between 2004 and 2007. They played sadsack music with a lot of good vocal harmonies. More like Chuck Ragan's solo stuff as opposed to folk punk like Ghost Mice or whatever. I think they might have been from Boston. They both sang and they both played acoustic guitar. One of their songs was called like "Another Gallon Gone" or "Another Gallon Down." Any leads are appreciated.

Heard a song on Mayer Hawthorne's instagram story a while ago so that should indicate what kind of thing it sounds like, it was a soul/r&b song that sounded like it was from the late 70's that had a part that sounded almost note for note like the beginning descending notes of the SPECTRE theme song.

I've had a song rattling round my head for an age, and I can't pin it - please help.

I think it's a bit of American hardcore or punk, but it's a much slower grind than most of that genre. The lyrics are about the Groundhog Day-style of a mundane life - "Get up, go to work, come home, eat, drink, TV, sleep". That kind of phrase repeated.

I thought it was Rollins or Black Flag, but for the life of me I can't work it out. Any thoughts? Thanks!
