Wow, it doesn't even give the same color for a word that appears twice in a phrase, even though a single word will give the same color every time. Weird

This reminds me of a useless app I would like to see, and that is color-to-sound. There are some of those, but they generate little more than noise. I want red to correspond to low tones and purple to high tones, so when I draw a pattern of colors in a line, it can actually make a melody. And if I import a picture, it could be segmented along both axes. The audio would be dictated by definable parameters (3 pixels=an 1/8 note for instance)

It could also go the other way, translating an audio pattern into a picture. It would of course have to be simplistic sound to make a discernible picture. Say the audio is a sequence of 100 notes, the resulting picture could be a 10x10 image, or 5x20, or whatever. Parameters would again dictate the note duration:pixel ratio.

Cross posting an interesting idea from the Web aps / programs that dont do anything useful thread.

Ok this is a REALLY simple program that would help me out greatly, I just do'nt know how to handle the number of simultaneous connections......

I need a program that will telnet to a list of IP's preferrably simultaneously (no more than 30 or so if that matters). It will then login with the same login/password at every node. It can be something as easy as Login wait 3 seconds, password, wait 3 seconds. Then it will execute 2 commands with about a 3 second delay between them. The commands are "flmDeleteDb" and then "reboot."

I just coded a quick little program up: http://filesocket.com/download/e94MultiTelnet.zip
Drag a text file with a list of ips/hostnames into the executable, one on each line, and type in username, password, and the command you want to run, and it'll telnet to all of the hosts at the same time and execute the commands. Now that I think of it, that might not be such a good idea. Oh wait, .NET limits the thread pool to 10 at a time, IIRC. Also, blank passwords won't work. I'm running on something like 3 hours of sleep in the past 24 hours :(

Got another one which may be useful in stopping leeching and having to download only to upload a file by ftp prog :D

An addition to the Firefox context menu that allows me to save an image or file (exe/zip etc) to my own webspace (it logs in and uploads it to a specified folder, server info is added via the options menu) then spits out the URL of where it was put so I can copy+paste or do what I want with it...

Ideally something along the lines of the name "Save to Remote Server"...and have a progress bar at the bottom of Firefox...

Nothing fancy like playlists or anything like that. Just a simple Play/Pause/Next/Prev control, using the .NET compact framework on my Windows Mobile 2003 device. I'd assume the best way to do this would be to write a server app that sits on the desktop and waits for requests from the client app on the mobile device.

If someone writes this for me I'd be very happy, since it'd be ideal for parties. :)

Just thought I'd let you know I have this working, hopefully I'll have it all sorted on the tinyappz site either by end of lunch or when I get home from work, got actual work to do now :|

This is kinda interesting. I'm using the \n character for linebreaks, which I believe is translated differently with different text editors/OSes. I thought that using this character would sort it automatically... I wonder if this is because I compiled it on a Linux box?

For kicks, can you try importing one of the output files into Word or OpenOffice where it will allow you to select the linebreak character? I just imported one I created on Windows XP and used the LF character only as the linebreak and it worked.

As for a permanent fix, anybody have a better suggestion than force feeding it CRLF? This results in double spacing in some editors.

Re-Edit: I got un-lazy and just did a check for Windows, and outputs accordingly. Hopefully that fixes it for you. Also Notepad still sucks and even with CRLF in Windows still shows long lines. Wordpad seems to suck significantly less, however.

A program that will convert any hex value in decimal value and vice versa. But it will only be working with values that are less then one.

So I would want to enter in 1BCA but it would really be 0.1BCA and I would want it to spit out the Decimal version.

And another small program that would do the opposite, if I entered a decimal version (like above, it will always be less then one) it would give me the HEX equivalent.

These do not have to be separate programs, they can be part of the same interface as long as both can be entered.

umm, no.
Your method:
x1 = 1
1 * 0.1 = 0.1

Actual solution:
x0.1 = x1/x10 = 1/16 = 0.0625

Your method:
x1BCA = 7114
7114 * 0.0001 = 0.7114

Actual solution
x0.1BCA = x1BCA / x10000 = 7114 / 65536 = 0.108551025390625

calc.exe doesn't handle hex values with a decimal point

For anyone interested:
When I uncheck that option, the following registry changes are made:
HKCU\Control Panel\Mouse
"MouseSpeed"="1" -> "MouseSpeed"="0"
"MouseThreshold1"="6" -> "MouseThreshold1"="0"
"MouseThreshold2"="10" -> "MouseThreshold2"="0"

However, simply changing the registry doesn't seem to make the change take effect. Presumably something else needs to be reset as well.

I know there are programs out there that do that (plus more) such as Faststone Image Viewer, but I was just wondering if there were something even smaller (and free for infrequent use in a commercial setting).
