Bosses Hang is also wonderful.

Yanqui will always hold a special place in my heart, as I saw them perform a lot of that material in Chicago the night before the Iraq War began.

Pitchdork reviewer says they abandoned their maniacal magic, should follow the template of Ministry. Ministry, hahaha.

Also, that the overall scope of the album is optimistic. The horror! Maybe they have children now and have adopted a more hopeful outlook on the state of things. I guess the reviewer hasn't seen a live video where they perform 'Hope Drone' in front of a screen that has hope hastily scrawled on it.

I like how GY!BE added new shows in 2018... in Scandinavia. The last two shows in Chicago sold out before I was even aware.

Paul Clipson, who worked as a projectionist with Tarantel, Grouper and others, passed away this weekend.

I found a fan made GY!BE album on youtube. The dude basically combined Luciferian Towers and Asunder into one by removing the drone tracks and doing a bit of other fixing. It is actually really really good. Check it out

I saw Mono open for Shellac in Chicago, Iowa City and MPLS. They blew them off the stage all three nights.

i haven't seen godspeed since march '18, so i'm assuming these are new songs currently being debuted on their ongoing us/kanada tour.

Actually, maybe not "aw yeah". If I assume that both of the new songs were previously known as Glacier and Cliff, which don't grab me at all, then meh.

Glacier would sound better with some lap steel.

Yeah, I'm surprised I like it as much as you goons do. Probably the best post-hiatus one yet.

I'd rather have had two more ASMZ/Fly Pan Am/Do Make Say Think albums than the first two reunion ones, but yeah this new one is an instant classic. Towers was very good too.

poo poo, it's already been 7 years since the last ASMZ record.

I think part of the issue is the way it was recorded or produced. Everything sounds very compressed for some reason.

"I'm not a producer" Steve Albini recorded it. People either really like the way his records sound or they hate them. Not much in between.

I saw them open for Shellac in 2016 (?), and they blew Shellac off the stage. Different styles but still.

Isn't Shellac Steve Albini's band? That's a rather odd pairing.

Last time Jakob played in NA, they opened for Tool.

Albini records most of their albums. I think they were in Chicago to record with him, then left on a short Midwest tour with his band.

Don't know if Stars of the Lid even remotely qualify as post-rock, but I wanted people to know that they slyly announced on Facebook today that they are working on new music. A little flicker of light in THESE DARK TIMES.
