No Russian Circles in the UK Also a bit of an odd question but where can I get a mug with a post rock band on it? *ShelsMusic don't sell them, I can get a russian circles canteen but not a mug. None of the bigger bands. I can't be pretentious at work without a post rock mug damnit! Back on topic have you guys heard Latitudes? They are drat ace if you are into the heavier stuff. http://shelsmusic.bandcamp.com/album/agonist Also they have a new album coming out next month.

Ohms posted:Ok I absolutely take that back. I bought it off iTunes on my phone and haven't even finished a single play through and love it already. I was waiting so hard for this album and expecting to be blown away by it and was dissapointed when I listened to it for the first time. It just seems dumbed down to me. After a number of listens its grown on me but I still think I prefer agonist.

Just out of chance I noticed a post rock band called vessels were playing near me last night, went and had a look. Support act was terrible but vessels themselves were amazing - a lot better than I expected at the small dive bar they were playing at.

Yeah they all seemed to switch instruments, drummer 2 did synth some of the time but it was ace when they were both going on drums.

Cymbal Monkey posted:I got The Quiet Lamb by Her Name is Calla a while back and on first spin didn't get super into it. But upon revisiting I've noticed that this is some very interesting, very worth while material. I found out via facebook that they were playing 3 hours away supporting cult of luna (who pretty heavy) Went down on super short notice for it and they played a half hour set . At least it was decent stuff and the other support band was a band called humanfly who are also quite heavy but I really liked their stuff. I also talked to Calla's lead singer as asked if he would play my city when they tour again in may sometime, heres hoping. Humanfly btw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Q0oO_0UiVA

Her name is Calla are playing in my town in a couple of months which makes up for my 3 hours travel to see the half hour set last time. The support is a band called midas fall and it turns out they are also pretty kickin! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPRDagbLNjg Also seconding Mogwai are awesome but the songs do vary greatly so its a bit hard to get into the kick of things.

Jan posted:So I know they were initially brought up in this thread as "not post-rock", but at this point I frankly don't care. I've been going up Swans's discography backwards, starting from The Seer, and every album is full of new and awesome discoveries. I've been hung up on Soundtracks for the Blind, and in particular The Sound is a track that will definitely reach the GY!BE/early Mogwai post-rock lovers out there. Yeah I had a freind suggest them to me a while back and I kinda shrugged it off but god drat the seer is an ace album.

Went to see T E Morris form her Name is Calla and Midas fall the other night. Quite a good show but it was so empty, I felt really bad for them, must have been like 15 people there max. Had a good chat with them tho and bought some albums and stuff.

Marriages are supporting them on their tour but I didn't get a chance to go see them I don't know how well known Marriages are but its another band from Emma ruth rundle who was in Red Sparrowes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1T4-Qa9CwiY

Overall, it's not grabbing me as much as any Explosions stuff or any Eluvium stuff, but there are parts I do like. April 1st? Your face will be red when it's a reggae album! Mogwai was amazing yesterday. Also, Whoops.

There's a glaswegian band called Inuit who are playing in Glasgow soon. They're pretty good. I think this will destroy you are playing Glasgow soon too.
