Ive always loved The Slackers but have never managed to catch them live, I'll definitely need to put forth the effort to catch them next time they're around!

Worry loving rules. Only problem I have it is almost the entire second half consists of minute-long songs that sorta blur together.

Whatever happened to the supposed recording of BTMI's last show that Jeff was gunna release? It's been like two or three years since that show, where the gently caress is the video of it.

I’m sad that Catch 22 vanished, I felt like with Permanent Revolution they were finally starting to try out new stuff and figure out Their Own Thing. But then they just up and disappeared so???

Teemu Pokemon posted:Catch rules, Tomas is a talented jerk, Jeff is a talented cool dude, Fateo and I stayed in the same hotel, the Streetlight/BOTAR thing on Saturday is gonna rule but all it'll do is just remind me that Tomas is never going to record anything new ever again, I'm currently two songs into POST- and it's p good but so far is just WORRY 2 and I kinda miss when he was making Get Warmer through We Cool? where each successive album has at least a little bit of a different sound Funny, I thought POST- sounded pretty different from WORRY. I don't like it as much as WORRY right now, but Jeff albums usually take a few listens for them to grow on me.

To celebrate, here's a video I put together of "rare" Streetlight songs/demos from old rear end live shows and whatnot: This is great, thanks for making it! One thing I like about Streetlight is how much their songs change as they're being worked on, so it's fun to find early versions as they can often feel like entirely different songs.

The Aquabats adjusted their kickstarter goal to be much less insane, and have been funded for a new album + mini episodes + a live concert album. There's 3 hours left and they're 50k away from getting a second new album, if y'all wanna contribute to hopefully get it up there. But on the other hand, lol kickstarter.

What the gently caress has Big D and the Kids Table done lately? I liked the direction their music was taking, though I am kind of under the impression that fans didn’t. Feels like a lot of bands dropped off the face of the earth five or so years ago. Big D, Mustard Plug, Catch 22, etc.

Snow Cone Capone posted:I saw him do his solo act and someone in the crowd yelled "MRS BUTTERWORTH YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE TONIGHT" and he was like "I don't need an excuse" lol Why the gently caress doesn't he just do it? It's clear tons of his fans really love the song and it connects with them in some way. If he's embarrassed about it why doesn't he re-write it to be not as embarrassing to him? He's clearly willing to re-record or re-write his old songs. I get that it's his song and his decision and such but c'mon, man.

He doesn't play BTMI songs, but he says it's out of respect for the old band members. Playing those songs would be like saying "I don't need you guys" to them.

Snow Cone Capone posted:That's totally fair, for sure. Also a little weird since like half of the band he currently plays with are old BTMI people I think. And I think he occasionally plays old BTMI songs at shows to please the fans. But yeah either way he still has tons of really good new music to play. Seriously Worry may be the best album he's ever released. LOL remember when Kalnoky said he was going to slow down on touring so that they could focus on making music? And how he said that it was because of Victory that his albums took so long to release, but now that they're independent they haven't released a single new song? At least The Hands That Thieve was a pretty drat good album.

I mean they said they'd tone down the shows to record more, and now it's retroactively to have more personal time. Which is fine, but doesn't give me much hope for them trying to tone down shows more. I suspect we'll hit some point (soon?) where they just stop touring or releasing new stuff and everyone kinda just forgets about them.
