Does anyone seem to notice that Reel Big Fish just don't seem that into it anymore? I saw them twice here in Australia(brisbane) and they just seemed like they wanted to get it over with. Or at least, Aaron and Scott seemed to. Granted they were co-headlining with Less than jake the second, so they had to get off so LTJ could play. They just went "Ok this is ..." played it and repeated until they finished. REally disappointing. Anyways, here's some recommendations. hope you like myspace!: Dr Octopus The Display Team The Toilet in particular, formerly Mumrah! Something To Do Bagster

Mysterious Aftertaste posted:I have never seen a bad LTJ show. Last time i saw them (the only time) my friends wanted to leave because they're all metal heads and can't deal with the vocalist. I wasn't really happy. The Banana Pee posted:Despite having such a "happy" sound RBF and especially Aaron have been very depressed and tormented people. Listen to any one of their CDs with the exception of Cheer Up! (which I think is their best, because it isn't whiny) and you'll hear the rantings of some really troubled people. I always figured they were just tongue in cheek, contrasting happy upbeat tunes with depressing/whiney lyrics. It's a pity too, because they're all really talented musicians. It always seemed a "well life sucks, but who gives a gently caress" vibe. Take beer for example And even in S.R. they ask to just wait a while so they can get their style right. We can only hope for the next album, really.

Loud About Loathing posted:You should check out the Arrogant Sons Of Bitches. Really good ska-core from Long Island. Their MySpace has mostly live tracks and rarities, but there are some quality live videos on YouTube: It's great how in the Youtube descriptions it tells you where to get the full thing: quote:I found this video on their official bootleg site, https://www.snevesneve.com/asob/ And personally out of all the live videos, this one is probably the coolest. Which is also on the bootleg site. And I'm feeling happy so a little less redundancy for this post: http://www.snevesneve.com/btmi/

The Hidden Sherpa posted:Like that UK goon, i've only recently gotten into ska. The only things I have is the RBF discography, a Toasters album, and the Madness gold collection. For simple free-to-download stuff: http://quoteunquoterecords.com/btmi.php http://www.purevolume.com/wearetheunion/albums/99308127 & the two links I just posted. Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution used to offer their music for free, doesn't look like that's the case anymore. You can always search youtube for stuff out of this list. Edit: Forgot to mention, there's always this. gently caress it, while I'm here: Anyone up for an Audiosurf challenge? Pick a ska band/song and I'll try to kick your asses at it. Aaaand I was trying to tabulate Rocketrocketrocketship a few months ago for trombone, having absolutely no ear at all, I resorted to trying to actually learn from videos, here's what I have: code:

FloppyDiskCommando posted:Is there anything Save Ferris like that isn't terrible? I know of Tip the Van, a CT ska band, but they have this gimmick in singing harmonic fourths (I think its fourths?) and that wears thin pretty quickly. Also, old No Doubt works, but have any other worthwhile 3rd wave bands had female vocalists? http://www.myspace.com/droctopusska Wow, I only just read that blog stating they've broken up. drat.
