New album from Booji Boys just dropped, if you like lo-fi ripshit punk from Nova Scotia with vocals shouted at you through a police PA.

And last week Urochromes put out a real fuckin paint stripper of an album. The lo-fi hardcore punk fields are producing bumper crops this summer, friends. Come and feast, all of you who wear black t-shirts and don't dance at shows. Drum machine punx rise up.

Speaking of, y'all should know about The Minneapolis Uranium Club Band. The Uranium Club. The Minneapolis Uranium Club. The Uranium Club Band. Uranium Club, from Minneapolis. The Uranium Club of Minneapolis. Uranium Club.

Need-to-hear punk poo poo for 2019? Here.

Booji Boys - Tube Reducer
I've already posted this album. Ripshit lofi punk rock screamed through a police PA. Chug a beer and stomp your feet.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pv6rmzD3tyg

Minneapolis Uranium Club - The Cosmo Cleaners
The enigmatic yet ubiquitous Uranium Club's Minneapolis chapter pen a new missive. Taut and neurotic, hooky and crooked. Wry, weird humor up against surfy riffs, tightly rehearsed. Wind them up and watch them go!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DDY_shRtEo

Toyota - s/t LP
Herky-jerky eggpunk from Oakland, somehow. Dweebazoid pocket-protector Bunsen burner poo poo straight outta Neo Silicon Valley. Like Mr. Bungle playing a set at 924 Gilman.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qY7PSGcDpYE

Do y'all like this poo poo? I've noticed a severe lack of eggpunk/NWI poo poo posted here. If y'all are into this sort of thing I have a handful of really influential, really good albums from the past four years to post. The type of poo poo that only gets released on cassette in editions of 100. Scream and yell if you're down.

Oh lame, I have to explain myself on the internet. Here, read this. Basically you got eggpunk and you got chainpunk. Chainpunk is tuff: leather jackets, knife tattoos, taking yourself really seriously. Eggpunk is weirder and less self-conscious. Lots of self-released cassettes.

Here's a few eggpunk releases. Notice that they tend to originate in NWI -- northwest Indiana. Bloomington or thereabouts. Something in the water over there, I dunno.

The Coneheads - 14 Year Old High School PC-Fascist Hype Lords Rip Off Devo for the Sake of Extorting $$$ from Helpless Impressionable Midwestern Internet Peoplepunks L.P.

Well all right, I'll get a little deeper into this since at least one person seems interested and this thread doesn't move much recently.

That Coneheads album I posted is really good. Start there. Learn to love it. The singer/bassist is Mark Winter, who has no online presence and is kind of a luddite but makes extremely good music. He's also the guitarist in CCTV, was the drummer in Liquids for a while, and was also in Big Zit, Ooze, Goldman Sex Battalion and a couple other things. He was prolific as poo poo up until like 2016, when (and this is all poo poo that I've scraped out of like, YouTube comments, this entire scene basically only exists offline except for like two YouTube channels) his basement flooded and his cassette machine broke. At some point he moved to Chicago and hasn't really had any creative output that can be found on the internet. He's in a band called Super Stupids High on Hexavalent Chrome whose only publicly-available recording is a 45-second-long Facebook video. That sounds like me making fun of people who listen to unnecessarily obscure music, but it's also true.

Anyway, he had a short-lived project called DLIMC that is some of my absolute favorite music I have ever heard. It was a series of cassettes that came out every couple months over the course of a year. The track I timestamped is, I think, kind of a spiritual cover of the Gizmos' (look em up) cover of Al Green's "Take Me To the River". It's one of the most absolutely bonkers rock songs I've ever heard. It's in 6/4, like how DEVO does sometimes. Did I mention Mark Winter is playing every instrument? It sounds like he figured out how to play guitar backwards on this! And listen to the drums! What the gently caress!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9p7PF7xONA&t=703s
Listen to that entire... I dunno, album? Series of cassettes? YouTube video? It's so good.

And here's his old, old band Goldman Sex Battalion's best song. More of a straight-ahead garage rock track with a juicy guitar riff and a jaded monotone vocal performance that is somehow also really catchy and engaging.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvEDevDbreo

Hopefully that's enough for your ears to chew on. For now, at least. I'll keep posting if Toe Rag keeps cheering me on.

God, they were so good live. Wish I could've seen them. That's the one where they close with a cover of Gizmos' "Pay", right? So good.

Here's that song, if y'all aren't familiar enough with the Gizmos. Proto-eggpunk, if you will. Also from NWI, strangely.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_GB4mU3VgY
This song is so good, and it's weird in really subtle ways. The chorus is only three bars long, for some reason.

This is my favorite Coneheads live recording. Mark is so loving intense here. This is a really niche scene, Coneheads were never popular by any means, so it's really cool to see Mark and the boys play to a room packed full of people screaming the lyrics back at them. Especially on "Hack Hack Hack", where Mark has just ranted about some bigot in the local punk scene who was giving him poo poo. He dedicates a song to him that's about killing someone with an axe, and he doesn't even have to sing into the mic for every word to be clearly audible. It just makes me happy, I dunno.

I've been trying to make a conscious effort to listen to new stuff, new bands, young bands. I'm making a playlist and whatnot, but I'd love recommendations. Some young acts I really like are Bayside, Idles, Patent Pending, WSTR. Anything good and a bit pop punky from a band founded after 2005 would be amazing.

I took a second to look this up and bruh. Bayside's first album came out sixteen years ago.

In a similar vein to that Gee Tee release, my favorite Italian punks DADAR just put out a new album, featuring two of the tracks from the EP they put out last year that I liked. They actually remind me of early The Hives but with some synthesizers. Plus it's an Italian punk album with a song called Sick of Pasta. That's great.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GARLMGLiBGI

Also I've been obsessed with this over the past week. It's a Florida eggpunk band called AOL that's just super neurotic and fast and weird. Anxious lyrics about being online too much and losing your personality. Seven songs in seven minutes. My friend said "it sounds like if you took all the things i liked about frank zappa, threw everything else in the loving garbage, and then force fed what was left over to the coneheads". Definitely niche but really good at what it's doing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NylTDWCwRcI

Okay okay one more and then I'll leave you alone. My friends' band Warm Red has been getting a bit of attention from punk YouTube, which is a thing, I promise. Just saw them play last night. They're so good. Definitely less lo-fi than a lot of stuff I post. Singer is like five feet tall, his name's Tony, he loves Uranium Club, he's the best. Band rules.

Whoa, this rips! If I heard Blade of the Knife at a bar I'd be whipping beers at dudes' heads out of pure animal reflex. I say this with all the love in my heart for Sheer Mag: it sounds like what most of the guys in Sheer Mag wish they were playing instead.

This is total nerdlinger dweeb poo poo compared to that, but Australian Coneheads-worshippers R.M.F.C. put out a split EP with similarly devolved Sydney eggheads Set-Top Box last month and it is just hooky as the dickens. R.M.F.C.'s half is pretty immediate and catchy, Set-Top Box has more synths and kind of an X.T.C./Oingo Boingo thing going on, and they each end their side by covering one of the other's songs from a previous release. I really like it.

Nicer recordings of a bunch of old stuff, plus cleaned up versions of recent demos. Super hooky melodic punk rock with great guitar work. Mat Williams plays every instrument. He played drums in Coneheads. You really should hear this.

Zulu has a new LP out, "A New Tomorrow." It is extremely eclectic for a non "post-hardcore" band. Major upgrade from their previous EPs in terms of quality, but still rooted I guess? Really solid listening experience. I hope many can enjoy.

Edit: major upgrade in musicianship and style, too. There's sampling, poetry, and lots of grooves. The heavy parts sound heavier. More vocal varieties. Oh baby baby

Zulu loving slams, album's great. Saw them with Jesus Piece, Scowl and Show Me the Body recently and every band played an incredible set. Scowl played a Misfits cover!
