So I was looking up some videos of my favourite drinking and punk/skin bands Hardskin, and found out they did an awesome album called "Why do birds suddenly appear" featuring guest vocals from various women. I am not familiar with anyone who join but it's great. I bought the album as soon as I saw it on itunes.

I still can't stop laughing at the album title.

The record is pretty good too. My only (slight) complaint is that the songs are not as sing along-y as the other Hardskin stuff. That might be because I'm still listening to my first run through.

EDIT: I lied. It's sing along like crazy good.

was looking up Burning Spirits hardcore and found this:

If you look at the page I think the best stuff is Tetsu Arrey and Lip cream. All of it is pretty great though.

I met someone recently who introduced me to the fact that Skinheads aren't the racist fucks I had been led to believe by the media in america. Bands like Skrewdriver soured me to the music back in the 90's something fierce.
After a cursory glance at Wikipedia, I guess what I hated is now labeled as hatecore and RAC, but the poo poo I'm learning to really loving enjoy is Oi! and the gritty sounding pub/street music.

She pushed me towards The Oppressed, Cocksparrer, Noi!se, and Templars. But I need more.
Guide my hands, gentle goons. I'm ignorant as gently caress musically, the only other punk I've listened to is folk-punk stuff like Andrew Jackson Jihad, johnny hobo and the freight trains, Blackbird Raum, and Ramshackle Glory.

Listen to Hardskins. They are a joke skinhead band. They are also the best skinhead band. They swear a lot though.

Cockney rejects are really good.

I always find this one too be too funny. It's not the best. The best one is "A kid who tells on another kid is a dead kid." I know They live and a few other bands use it but I can't find any tracks right now.

All the songs are OK. The Ska one is the best.

Moving away from dumb jokes about punk culture, does anyone here know much about the Chicago hardcore/powerviolence scene? There's a free show this Friday headlined by Weekend Nachos, who I like a lot, but I know nothing about the other bands: La Armada, Brick Assassin, Thieves and Tensions. Looks like they're all very local.

La Armada: https://armadahardcore.bandcamp.com/

Not really my cup of tea.

Brick Assassin: https://brickassassin.bandcamp.com/album/self-title

It's OK, nothing great.

Thieves: https://thievesil.bandcamp.com/album/darkest-regions

It's not really doing it for me. Maybe if I was in a different mood I would have a more positive opinion.

Tensions: https://tensionschicago.bandcamp.com/album/ghosts

This is the best of the lot.

In the end it looks like a free show and one of the bands you say you like quite a bit, so if you don't have anything better to do you might as well go.

The only fast band though is going to be Weekend Nachos.
