Which Electro Hippies album(s)? I only ever listened to the Peel Session and Play Fast or Die, neither of which I would describe as "bassy".

edit: just listen to Siege

I'm sure plenty of people who read this thread don't know them, but does it even matter? If people only posted stuff they thought no one heard, this thread would just become people posting youtube videos of the worst 7"s they have.

EDIT2: the best track is the last one. It starts around 14:10. Vincent Price sample. F yes.

I'm not sure about all that, but XfilesX was pretty loving rad.

There are some other songs on youtube, but it basically all sounds the same. I think their true craft was lyrics.

I think this might be my favorite:

As a band, we joke a lot. We're not as serious as Portraits of Past. But if this 7" gets a bad review, we'll kill you. You've been around for a while. I've been edge for two months. gently caress you. You're dead.

The first album by The Raincoats is so good. I first heard it a long time ago, and it struck me as some Shaggs-esque novelty and I didn't think too much of it. I decided to give it another listen a couple weeks ago, and I can't stop! Black and White and Not Looking are probably my favorite tracks, but the whole album is pretty much perfect. Thanks for reading my post.

yo guys help me find some new bands to listen to. I want to go to a show for the first time in like 6 years but none of the bands I used to like are together anymore it seems. I really liked bands like The Carrier, Ruiner, Have Heart, early Trash Talk, Ceremony, No Turning Back. It seems like everything is more metal core these days? Cheers

The saxaphonist from X-Ray Specs was in Essential Logic, if you haven't listened to them. She is also performs on this song

This 7" is kind of cool. The girl from Antischism is in it.

This 7" is real cool, believe me.

Yeah that’s definitely what they’re going for. It’s actually members of Chumbawamba and The Ex, who we’re both part of the anarcho scene in their early days, although The Ex was always a little different. Both bands are also really, really good.

I remember being sorta flabbergasted when I found out that Chumbawumba had this legacy as a fiercely anarchistic band, since the stuff that made them mainstream famous in the 90's was very much not of that style, at all. Plus it seemed like they let any company that wanted to stick Tubthumping on a compilation do so.

Yeah I'm not sure how much control they would have over what happened to that song. Don't major labels typically own the rights to the music? There's a documentary about Chumba, called "Well Done, Now Sod Off." I haven't watched it in a long time, but I thought it was pretty good.

DYK?? The barcode from Tubthumper CD single is the background of the cover art of this 7"!

Ariza posted:

I was under the impression that they were from Crass for the longest time, but that was when the internet was AOL or Earthlink. I would've loved to see them live in the middle of their fame, with the soccer moms and martini dads who grossly misunderstood who they were. Chumbuwumba is funny.

Yeah there was some rumors they were in Crass and Conflict for some reason? They even had it on their FAQ, back when they had one.

Chumbawamba's final release was a CD single "dedicated" to Thatcher which they released when she died :unsmith: I don't remember it being particularly good, but I like the concept.

I love Chumbawamba.
