The Les Legions Noires bands are sort of the progenitors of that style so those bands if you haven't checked them out yet. Mutiilation and Vlad Tepes are my favorite of those.

For more recent bands off the top of my head I would suggest Obskuritatem, Sulphuric Night, Orgy of Carrion, earlier Lamp of Murmuur records, Lampir, and Hand of Glory. Also Black Cilice isn't really a "vampire" band but is probably the best currently active raw black metal project.

I really love Vampires of Black Imperial Blood but just like Transylvanian Hunger the vocals hold it back a tiny bit for me, just upfront with no reverb it's just distracting for me, but I'm sure that makes a poser.

I'll check out those others for sure. Lamp of Murmuur is always great but what did yall think of saturnian bloodstorm? Overproduced maybe? Also yeah welcome any raw poo poo,.doesn't have to be vampire themed just similar songwriting and atmosphere. Id consider this Solipsism record pretty similar to Seguin Relic

Also according to the commentary for TH fenriz talked about nocturno being in jail while recording, but the vocals he did after were done in a studio, and fenriz says "So yeah we uhhh... just turned some knobs until it matched the atmosphere" in the most fenriz way. I love him so loving much

This is great, I love these ridiculously shrieky vocals. Kind of sounds like a parody of black metal but 100% in a good way.

Can't think of many other examples of that goblin fanatic style, apart from this https://selfmutilation.bandcamp.com/album/when-mine-eyes-blacken?from=hp (it's dsbm so totally different, but you might hear similarities in the vocals).

Anymore recommendations for goblin fanatic vocals?

I assume you already know Silencer, so let's move on from that.

This one has a bit more of the irony you're looking for as well as the vocals

Classic Alex Poole right here

This is poser poo poo so don't let anyone catch you. Skip to 1:25 because it sucks up until that point
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwaviHzB0To&t=90s

And this one here is a special. A collaboration between Celestial Sword and Coniferous Myst, both of whom are great in their own right. Vocals here might be a bit different than what you're looking for, sounds more like a tortured whale, and by that I don't mean wail I mean whale. It's loving incredible

Thanks for the suggestions. Really enjoying this Bad Manor album, getting big Cultes Des Ghoules vibes off of it.

What was that black metal album themed around horror films? IIRC, each song referred to a different iconic horror franchise. It was actually good but I can't remember what it was called!

Also, a friend has just set up a zine called Signal Fires to cover anarchist and antifascist black metal in the UK. Just the one interview with Dawn Ray'd so far, but look forward to more. https://signalfireszine.substack.com/

I feel you, Mütiilation's vocals aren't their strong suit and I do prefer reverby vocals. It is kind of funny those types of vocals got associated with modern raw black metal though.

That Solipsism record is really good; definitely one of my favorites from that year. Some of the other Atrocity Altar bands are good too. I like Black Imperial Blood and Lament in Winter's Night. Sceptre of the Fading Dawn is really good too if you like dungeon synth.

Oh and tbh I don't really like mid-period Immortal so the new LoM is definitely not doing it for me haha.

I just discovered Summoning from my copy of By The Waters Of Awakening by Firienholt having a cover of one of their songs on the D side. Absolutely mind blowing that stuff like this was being made as far back as the mid 90's.

Yes.
I really appreciate what Summoning do and love their style on a conceptual level, but for some reason their actual music never fully clicked for me. And yet I really like some completely shameless Summoning worship stuff, like Emyn Muil.

I like them for the same reason I enjoy Kekht Arakh. I feel like black metal vocals are inherently dramatic and villainous, so why not play that up?

Just came across this recording of Old Man's Child playing the majority of Born Of The Flickering live in '96. Really good quality considering it's a VHS recording in a club. They killed it.

I think I saw something about Departure Chandelier working on new material but I can't remember. Fingers crossed; Antichrist Rise to Power is great.

They did release this Venusberg Cardinal album a bit ago though, which is has the same members and was apparently recorded at the same time as ARtP: https://departurechandelier.bandcamp.com/album/atlas-of-dungeons

I saw Gaerea, Blackbraid, and Wolves in the Throne Room play last week and it was one of the most atmospherically pleasing shows I've seen. WTTR played under candlelight, blackbraid brought out a native American flute and sage bundle, and Gaerea was just so out there and full of smoke.

Great time

Nice! I assume due to fire regulations, wittr didn't use real candles when I saw them... they used electric ones which really isn't the same.
