I still don't know why Deafheaven are even grouped in with black metal. Maybe it's a case of people oversimplifying genres rather than doing their usual over-complicating and still ending up with a square peg in a round hole anyway. I can imagine some of their crowds end up like the ones Boris used to get - 75% of them have no interest in the songs the other 25% want to hear and the band has no interest in what either of them want to hear.

Either way, throwing the horns is pretty trite and clichéd at most shows. Almost as bad as "all in black, at the back, arms folded, scowling". The latter having the added denigration of being an almost exclusively male tribal pursuit.

Denis Forkas Kostromitin has done some nice stuff as well, often in the same vein of style as David Herrerias.

Kristian Wåhlin/Necrolord was responsible for a lot of early album covers. There's a number of artists who repeatedly show up, this can be good and kinda bad.
