Why does nobody like the newer Gorgoroth albums? They're awesome as far as I'm concerned, they're just not as easy listening as the earlier output.

okay i am trying to track down a band: there was a short lived thread or subtopic in a thread or something about beloved black metal vocalists, and someone linked a black metal band, french i think? That had absolutely inhuman and awesome shrieking. I recall looking at wikipedia at the time and it said they started out as a NSBM band and moved away from it later, and it may have been a one man project but I'm not sure. Honestly, it was still a good show, their Volcano stuff onward sounds way better live than on an album, and it was fuckloads of fun. I just wish I'd gone in not expecting to hear early stuff.

This is incredible and revolutionary and bears no resemblance to that lowly black metal plebeian music of old" while metalheads are all "other people enjoy Deafheaven, therefore it's not black metal, it is white metal for the casual poser. I will constantly redefine the boundaries of anything I like to exclude people who have girlfriends" I don't like Deafheaven's music because I dislike the aesthetic but man, they've really managed to upset a lot of nerds and I respect that

Maybe he's trying to position himself in people's minds as the true continuation of Immortal, especially if his new music turns out to be better than Immortal's. He would probably get good publicity out of that paint style since he is in hundreds of memes and stuff, he's very recognizable even outside metal circles.
