van runs like a leopard but looks like a dead buffalo - $350

1990 Plymouth Voyager V6 auto, 189k miles

Yea what you see is what you get... this is a real piece, it's been in the family since 1992. it was well taken care of until my brother and i got ahold of it.

the good:

-Runs strong, top half of engine was rebuilt around 100k?
-comfortable seats with no tears
-make a great cargo van
-stack of receipts
-no carpet

the bad:

-leaks oil like crazy, looks like it needs a new seal, other than this it runs great and i don't think it will ever break down. just don't want to take the time to fix it.
-its ugly.
-driverside door doesn't open, and window doesn't wind down, could be fixed but we never took the time.
-windshield wipers don't work
-needs an alignment, it eats tires for breakfast

we've taken it on quite a few road trips in the last couple years to Wisconsin, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Hell.

it really is nothing to look at, driver's side was crashed into by some crazy people without insurance, driverside door was bent back on another car while driving in reverse, it has hit plenty of road barrels on the free way. the thing just won't die. it just keeps running and running kind of like the energizer bunny but more like a zombie bunny that got into a fight with a rabid dog.

email me with any questions and i will get back with you to show off the beast.

I doubt it is with the 4G63 swap. Looks like a lovely job though with the ricer BOV and no air filter on the turbo.

Just buy some used Bilsteins, GC sleeves, and FCM top hats. That's probably about 1k or so and the best bang for buck in my opinion. Don't get down about these guys that say everything sucks below 2k or whatever. Yeah, that may be true if you're racing, but on a street car I imagine it's going to be "good enough" for you. I too hate feeling like there's always something better I could have bought but do you really want to spend more on shocks than you did on your car?

I just went through the process of selling a car on CL. It was a 1999 Civic and it was priced somewhat cheap ($1800), so of course I got 30000 emails about it and I even replied to them all. One dude wanted to drive 2.5 hours to come look at it TONIGHT WITH CASH but I didn't want to deal with that. The first guy looked at it and put down a deposit, and now I have to deal with getting email replies/texts/calls for the next few days about it.

Motronic posted:

Why would you ever allow that to happen?

First one with cash takes it. If you're that serious you best find the cash before someone else does.

Because he was serious about the car, found a bank that was open, and then just picked it up? It was a hell of a lot easier than dealing with some kid who wanted to drive across the state to look at the car and then be pissed or whatever when it wasn't his dream car. I'll take deposits on the car as long as I can trust the person and they agree to get the car within a week. It's not like I needed it out of the driveway RIGHT NOW either. I don't show up to buy cars with cash the first time but always have enough for a deposit. I figure most people are reasonable and will accept that just like I would.

Suburban Dad
Jan 10, 2007

Yep, exactly. I've never had that happen and I usually only take $100. That's usually enough to motivate most people to get their poo poo together.

I really don't get how a C4 ZR1 will ever really be a desirable car, especially when you can buy so much better vettes and other cars for the same price. If we're throwing out wild guesses on what it's worth in 20 years, I'm going to say "about the same as now, at best."

Still hasn't left work as far as I can tell. We were supposed to meet 10 minutes ago. He texted at 4 saying "still at work".

craigslist.txt. I should consider myself lucky he even sent me a text, rather than letting me sit in the bank parking lot indefinitely. We'll see if he ever shows.

Edit: he texted back. It's too late for him to drive out here before the bank closes, so I guess we'll try for tomorrow morning. Whatever, the bank is about 3 blocks from me and I don't have any plans for the morning, so I'll just play video games or something until he shows up. Assuming he shows up.

Take a deposit and only hold it for the ONE meeting you set up with him or sell it. Don't wait for bullshit buyers. They get one chance with me or they lose the deposit and the car.
